Original Texas Chainsaw cast members join the new 3D sequel

You may not want the 3D sequel to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE but you’re getting it anyway and Lionsgate is hoping to throw some fans of the original a bone to soften the blow a little bit. Original TEXAS CHAINSAW stars Gunnar Hansen, Marilyn Burns and John Dugan will all return for the 3D film.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D will mark the first time Hansen, the original Leatherface, has appeared in one of the film’s sequels. He won’t be returning as the iconic killer (they’ve instead cast newcomer Dan Yeager) but will play a role that’s described as a cameo in nature. Dugan will, however, be returning to play the Grandfather.

The trio of classic actors join a cast that includes Alexandria Daddario, Tania Raymonde, R&B singer Trey Songz (wait, where are you going?!) and Shaun Sipos.

This 3D version takes place directly after the events of the 1974 original and follows a girl who travels to Texas to pick up her inheritance, unaware that it includes her cousin Leatherface. It all sounds a bit ridiculous, especially having a sequel to a grainy 1974 movie shot in 3D, but OK…
