Orlando Bloom resurfaces as The Good Doctor

You remember Orlando Bloom right? You know, the guy who starred in two of the biggest trilogies of all time before more or less dropping off the face of the earth? Well, his pretty face is back in the news, but you’re not going to find him returning to film for anything as epic as PIRATES or LOTR.

Rather, Bloom is now set to star in THE GOOD DOCTOR, an allegedly “Hitchcock-ian” thriller, as a frustrated doctor looking to earn the respect of his peers. But when an eighteen year old patient with a kidney problem allows him to strut his medical stuff, he messes with her treatment to get her to stay in the hospital with him. This is discovered by an orderly who blackmails Bloom for prescription painkillers, and all of this drama leads to the aformentioned Hitchcock-ian thrills.

The film is being written by Veronica Mars scribe, John Enbom, and already has Michael Pena, Troy Garity, Courtney Ford, Taraji P. Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons in talks to co-star with Bloom, who would seem to be taking on a role purposefully far different from his usual fare. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what the diagnosis of the film…ah screw it, I hate medical puns.
