Orlando Bloom turns to the dark side in this trailer and clip for The Good Doctor
Raise your hand if you thought Orlando Bloom was going to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood after THE LORD OF THE RINGS and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN? Yeah, that looks like everyone.
Bloom had the looks and acting chops to be a top leading man but has instead languished in box office bombs like ELIZABETHTOWN. The bright side would be that he can take smaller, indie roles and stretch himself as an actor. Yeah, Christian Slater told himself the same thing.
THE GOOD DOCTOR, however, does look like it might be pretty good. In the film Bloom takes on what may be his darkest role as a doctor straddling the line between sane and crazy. Check out the trailer.
Plot: Martin Blake is an ambitious but anxious young doctor, eager to impress his superiors and colleagues: Chief Resident Waylans, self-assured fellow intern Dan and no-nonsense nurse Theresa. But things are not going Martins way and he cant seem to shake off his insecurities. When 18-year-old patient Diane is admitted for a kidney infection, Martin steps in, getting the much-needed boost of self-esteem he craves. But things take a dark turn as his enthusiasm begins to become an obsession.
I love dark movies like this. Seeing someone in a position of power slowly slip into the throes of madness is fascinating. Co-starring Rob Morrow, Taraji P Henson, Troy Garity, and RIley Keough, I will definitely be checking this out when it hits theaters this Friday, August 31st.
Yahoo Movies even has a brand new clip for THE GOOD DOCTOR. Check it out.
