Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night! Paramount is working on a new Terminator television series, but apparently the studio is also developing another new show with ties to a feature film. According to an article at The Wrap on the studio's new television executives, Paramount is interested in adapting 1998's THE TRUMAN SHOW into a TV series.

The Peter Weir film starred Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who at first has no idea he's living in a popular reality television series. Jim Carrey and Ed Harris both won Golden Globes for their performances in THE TRUMAN SHOW, as well as Andrew Niccol for Best Screenplay.

I absolutely love THE TRUMAN SHOW, and I can see how a TV show based on a movie involving a television reality series could work, but I have a few questions about THE TRUMAN SHOW as a series. Like how long will it be until Truman finds out what's really going on, and how much of the show will feature the behind-the-scenes stuff? Very interested in seeing what Paramount will do with THE TRUMAN SHOW series.

Extra Tidbit: The scene from THE TRUMAN SHOW in the video above was completely improvised by Jim Carrey.

more than 1 Truman

What if Truman isnt the only one? Sure you can fill an entire first season with Truman finding out his life is a lie. But what happens after that. Maybe the following seasons will follow another town, this one with a small group of people who are the subjects, not just one man. What if Truman himself turns into a fighter to save these people. There could be any number of towns in any number of locations where "Truman Show" is going on.

I think it could work.

That's actually a possibility, now that anthology shows are having a comeback (AMERICAN HORROR STORY; TRUE DETECTIVE).

This could work, as long as...

... TRUMAN learns the truth in the first episode. If the premise is based on the mystery itself, it'll suck.

The Truman Show is a modern classic, I think it should be left alone. If we've learnt anything from Son of the Mask or Dumb and Dumberer, it's that another actor trying to fill Carrey's shoes is rarely a good thing. I don't see how a series will work structurally apart from being the movie, stretched out.
