Several months ago, uber-Bond director Martin Campbell (GOLDENEYE, CASINO ROYALE) was rumored to be taking over the reigns of G.I. JOE 3. While Campbell has been hanging around the TV arena since directing GREEN LANTERN, the man seemed like a solid choice to bring his style to the Joes. Well, it looks like we have another name to add to the list as word on the street is that Paramount is looking to D.J. Caruso as the man to bring Roadblock and crew to fruition in a third installment, according to Deadline.

Caruso has been hanging around the Yong-Adult novel arena as of late, having directed STANDING UP and I AM NUMBER FOUR. I wouldn't say he's he's reader's choice by any means, but when it comes to G.I. JOE, I think it's all about the ensemble. RISE OF THE COBRA and RETALIATION have their merits, but I wouldn't say either film has successfully pulled it off. Dwayne Johnson is fine as a front man, but he needs to be surrounded with some fun actors. Anyone who saw G.I. JOE: RETALIATION will tell you that the banter between him and Channing Tatum was one of the best aspects of the movie, and while I'm unsure if Tatum would return, surely there are others who would make a great fit for Johnson.  Would it be too much to import the FAST AND FURIOUS cast?
