Paramount sets xXx: The Return of Xander Cage for a 2017 release

Vin Diesel will be returning to the franchise he left behind fourteen years ago when he reprises his role of the extreme sports athlete-turned secret agent known as Xander Cage in XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE. The upcoming sequel will be taking a little influence from Diesel's FAST & FURIOUS franchise and surround Vin Diesel with an ensemble of other extreme types as they face off against another team in a race to recover a mysterious weapon known as Pandora's Box.

Paramount Pictures will be releasing XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE and they've just announced when the film is due to be released. Drum roll please. XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE will be released on January 20, 2017, less than a year away. The film, which is currently shooting in Toronto, will feature the talents of Samuel L. Jackson, Nina Dobrev, Tony Jaa, Ruby Rose, Deepika Padukone, as well as Donnie Yen as Xiang, the "alpha-warrior" leader of the other team racing to recover the Pandora's Box. Vin Diesel has been keeping fans updated on the production via his various social-media accounts, including looks at a few of the films new characters.

A synopsis for XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE:

The third explosive chapter of the blockbuster franchise that redefined the spy thriller finds extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora’s Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.

XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE is set for a January 20, 2017 release.
