Paranormal Activity 2 gets a director

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the movies on Halloween... Paramount has announced that they've hired a writer and director for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 and they've poached some talent from another Halloween franchise. The studio has brought aboard writer Michael R. Perry and director Kevin Greutert, who last collaborated on SAW VI. Oren Peli, who wrote and directed the original PARANORMAL will produce.

As you might expect, not much was said about the the direction the sequel will be going in. All Peli would say is that "fans won't be disappointed." Can we put odds on that?

I find it a little odd that Paramount would bring in the creative team behind the least successful SAW installment to date, which left many people wondering if it could continue to be a viable franchise. We'll find out for sure this Halloween as PARANORMAL 2 goes head-to-head with SAW VII. Peli is currently working in post-production on his PARANORMAL follow-up AREA 51.
