Patrick Stewart reveals a potential spoiler for X-Men: Days of Future Past

Apr. 21, 2014by:

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST looks to throw the kitchen sink at the superhero genre by including almost every conceivable mutant at the screen and seeing what sticks. But, at the core, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is really about Professor X and Magneto with a good amount of Wolverine. Seeing both young and older actors as Xavier and Magneto is one of the highlights of Bryan Singer's film and also a key thread connecting this movie from X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and then going into X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.

Patrick Stewart, the man who has played Charles Xavier for the sixth time in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, was asked about whether or not he will return for X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, the already announced sequel that is slated for 2016. See Stewart's response below which may contain a spoiler for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

I don't see why not, he said. That is one of the blessings about fantasy and science fiction: You're never really dead. I would love to come back and do some more.

Remember, Singer already told us that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will serve as a direct sequel to X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and not feature any of the original trilogy stars. That being said, Patrick Stewart has already died in the series (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) so it wouldn't be that shocking for him to die again. And, if early leaks are any indication, we should probably be preparing ourselves to see a lot of death in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST opens May 23rd and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is slated for May 27, 2016.

Last Stand wasn't so bad. People remember the comics were better but you were never going to fit the comics story into a two hour movie.

True but I think the problem was they tried too hard to fit it into that time frame. If thy had dialed back on the mutants and subplots or actually made it a two hour long movie (instead of 1:30) it would've been better. But I must admit I still do enjoy it. I have no problem admitting that I'm a sucker to see them come to life (comic movies in general) so I enjoy them all. Are some better than others? He'll yeah!!! But I'll still have fun watching the rest.

Phatmaster is right. Last Stand is fuckig awful. The film killed off Cyclops, Xavier, and Jean and they take away Rogue and Magento's powers (somewhat) and also Mystique's powers too. Just too many things pissed me off about the film.

The only positive was Kelsey Grammar as Beast. Other then that, it was really really disappointing after the brilliance that was X-Men United.

Seeing how I'm sure most die in the post apocalyptic world of Days of Future Past, I could easily seen Wolverine preventing the deaths of all the mutants but the future being a little ambiguous so we're not entirely sure who's alive and who's not. I mean for goodness sakes, they still need to explain how Professor X got his body back after events of The Last Stand.

they imply that Professor X put his consciousness into another person. there's a scene in the beginning where they are in class discussing the ethics of using mutant power to inhabit the body of someone who is brain dead. then in the end credits scene, the brain dead patient wakes up, and the Dr. Moira McTaggert (a different one than the CIA agent i guess) goes "Charles!" i don't get how he still looks like Professor X though, unless its some kind of mental projection.

I actually think I read somewhere that the brain-dead patient was Xavier's twin brother. Whether or not this is exclusive to the movie universe or not I couldn't tell you, I'm not sure if he ever had a twin in the comics.

I remember the post-credit scene where he does that but it still doesn't explain how he looks exactly as he does and why he'd be confide to a wheelchair.

Yeah, there was a reference saying how one could put their mind into someone else's body.

But I don't recall Xavier having a twin at all...like ever. I mean, I know Juggernaut is his half brother or something.

In the comics Charles does have a twin, but it's a twin sister, they changed it to brother for the movie

Would like to see him come back for Apocalypse. He's one of the best parts about the franchise and one of the best comic book castings ever.

If there is indeed an after credits scene with Kelsey Grammars Beast, then I'm sure that will hint to maybe a few returning characters. But I think so far Singer has said it will just be the First Class actors coming back for Apocalypse.
