No one was surprised by the nominations for this years Oscars. I'd also say that people weren't surprised by the snubs either. When I logged on Facebook yesterday, the majority of the posts were basically, "F*ck you Oscars for staying inside the box, you f*cking f*cks".

After being snubbed by the Academy for his performance in YOUNG ADULT, Patton Oswalt responded in the best and most humorous way possible. He wasn't just ranting for himself, he was ranting for everyone who got left out. Oswalt took to Twitter and addressed the situation with this series of awesome tweets to Albert Brooks.

It began with, "Join me for a drink at The Drawing Room, @AlbertBrooks? Me and Serkis have been here since 6am," and continued on:

See you later tonight. Might be out of booze -- Serkis has Pogues on the jukebox & Fassbender just showed up in a pirate hat.

Oh shit -- we're DEFINITELY going to run out of booze. Charlize & Tilda just pulled up in a stolen police car.

Dude, GET DOWN HERE. Gosling is doing keg stands and Olsen & Dunst LITERALLY just emerged from a shower of rose petals.

Nolte & Plummer just drove past, mooning us. Serkis & Tilda are signing "Is There Life on Mars?"

Oops -- Von Trier just pulled up in a pass van dressed as Goering. "Let's go to Legoland!" With a boozy hurrah, we're out!

Oh. My. God. Just pulled up to Legoland. DiCaprio's rented the park for the day. Dibs on the Duplo Gardens! #andscene

I mean yeah, I feel there were a few (a very few) legitimate snubs, but I mean you only have five slots in each of the acting categories and if each of the people mentioned here got nominated you'd have like 15 nominees, obviously they're not going to all make the cut. It saddens me a little that the nominations were so extremely predictable this year, but with few exceptions most of the major...

The only major category that really dismayed me was Best Picture and that's only because I feel that two of it's nominations clearly aren't on the same level as the others. Aside from that I was only disappointed by a few of the more specialized categories where there were actual snubs because you didn't have the over-abundance of qualified candidates like you did in the acting and directing categories.

This is why I don't watch the Oscars. There were so many great films/performances snubbed this year and I've hardly watched many movies to know this. Truly saddening.

I look at the noms each year. Shake my head and then wait to read the results. Then I shake my head again. That is pretty much of involved with the Oscars I get.

How is 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close' allegedly one of the top 9 films of the year and nothing is good enough for the 10th slot? I am not really a Potter fan, but I really did enjoy Deathly Hallows 2, which (as you all know) was one of the most well received films of the year. I thought the Academy would recognize Part 1 and 2 as a whole with a nomination; and Drive.

Ya kinda have a point, however, can't it be both? The true snub is Fassbender. Full frontal jokes aside, the guy gave the best above and beyond the call of duty performance and did it amazingly, he showed more professionalism, skill, talent, you name it, on screen.

Are they in it for the recognition, or for the art? I can't sympathize with any snubbed actors who just care about recognition. The Oscars are not a measure of an actor's worth. They're merely an expression of a panel's opinion.

It just depends on how you grew up... in terms of: Id venture a hefty wager that most people that grow up with dreams of making it in the movie industry have the dream of one day winning an Oscar. Im sure the thought is also there to have a long and lucrative career making quality entertainment that people enjoy, but that is harder to pretend than an Oscar Acceptance Speech, while you are in th...

In July of 2010, AMPAS ruled that motion-capture (which was used to make Tintin) was not eligible for the animation category.

This was for two reasons: one, AMPAS didn't want films like Avatar trying to get an animation nom. Two, animators were angry that Happy Feet won in 2006.

Happy Feet's win still stands but motion-capture is still not considered animation. Even...

Now usually people say 'the Oscars are retarded!' because they didn't nominate a movie they liked or something stupid like that, but here they really ARE retarded for not considering Tintin an animated movie... yet didn't Monster House use motion capture and got nominated for an Academy Award a few years back?

Yeah, I do find it funny that he just assumed (wrongly imo?) that he was snubbed. I haven't heard any clamoring about it. He was good though. For me the biggest snubs for me were Fassbender (for Bechar) and Swinton (for Streep). But oh well what can you do.

There were a lot of snubs this year, and more pointless nominations than ever. However, I wouldn't say Oswalt was snubbed. I like him, but he was nothing special in Young Adult. To put himself amongst Brooks, Serkis, DiCaprio, etc is kind of absurd.

Still funny tweets though.
