For those of you who enjoyed Paul Feig's take on GHOSTBUSTERS, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has detailed its upcoming release, which will include a 4K/3D Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray release. Both versions will hit store shelves on October 11th. The film, featuring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth, will be available to watch in its 116-minute theatrical release, as well as a 133-minute extended edition. What that includes is anyone's guess, but I have a feeling the end credits gave away some ideas on what's to be expected. Check out the special features and cover art below!

  • Extended Edition (133 minutes) & Theatrical Version (116 minutes)
  • 2 Hysterically Haunting Gag Reels
  • 4 Unearthed deleted scenes
  • 11 Totally Possessed Alternate Scenes and more than 60 minutes of additional extended and alternate scenes with Ultraviolet download
  • 6 Jokes-A-Plenty alternate take reels
  • 5 Supernatural Featurettes:
    • Chris Hemsworth is 'Kevin'
    • The Ghosts of Ghostbusters
    • Meet the Team
    • Visual Effects: 30 Years Later
    • Slime Time
  • Filmmaker Commentaries

Saw the movie in theaters. Didn't find it funny but still enjoyed it. Won't be purchasing this. To each his own.

Watched it on Youtube, and yes......

It is FUCKING awful. Horribly unfunny, oddly paced, terrible effects, horrible antogonist and whoever says Kate McKinnon steals the show in this film is a retard. It honestly is as bad as the trailers make it. LOL at the RT certified fresh icon at the bottom, super desperate right there.

Here's my thought:

I enjoyed the original and I enjoyed this one as well. It's not blasphemy.

This should be a name you mention to over ambitious producers rebooting properties. Remember, the movie has to be really good, not just mediocre SNL sketch writing and bargain FX.

A Total Bust!

This movie was bad enough, adding 20 more minutes just sounds painful. That said, I don't see this title selling and this release will be in the bargain bin by the holidays.

You'll be surprised. When the Fantastic Four Reboot failed in the theater I remember going to Target and Bestbuy on the day it was released on Bluray, they were almost sold out of them. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens with this PoS movie.

The only release this movie deserves is VHS and that's being generous. An Extended Cut isn't going to help this failed abomination. They just wont let it die.

Oh well...

Sorry for going against the trend, but I actually enjoyed it. I too was not looking forward to this, wrote against the attacks that were part of Billy Donelly's pieces (check the Strikeback section on those) and hated the new version of he song. However, I enjoyed it. It was not an instant classic like the original one, it had flaws, but it was not the monster people that hadn't seen it claimed it was. Some jokes were really funny, some scenes were a bit creepy in the right way and McKinnon was

Some jokes were really funny, some scenes were a bit creepy in the right way and McKinnon was a gem. On top of this, Hemsworth was very good.
But most of all, the 3D was absolutely fabulous. They put a lot of thought into it and was even screened in a 1.85:1 aspect ratio (2.35:1 with black bars on top and bottom) which made use of the black bars to "extend" certain 3D effects out of the screen.
The only reason I'm giving it a thumbs down is because the only way to get a 3D copy is by buying a 4K combo. I don't have a 4K player and don't plan to buy one (even though I have a 4K TV) and I hate being forced to buy something more than what I want. (Don't get me started on the double dipping that the SW7 3D Bluray will be for all of us who bought the 2D one).

@sergeantsnugglez Lol, you got me. Just go to my profile and take a look at my history on the site. Yup, been here for a long time, even though I only have 80odd comments, I have been coming to JoBlo for years (back when they were promoting that Spielberg quote before the 2000s). I am originally from Chile, went to school in Corpus Christi, TX for 7th grade (where I learned most of my English) and now I live in Brisbane, Australia. I have a major in screen production and I wish I could work one

I have a major in screen production and I wish I could work one day in the industry (including Sony, the one you said my account is associated with). I am currently studying a master of accounting and I thank God I am entitled to an opinion (as you are entitled to yours). I usually go with what most people think (hated ID:R and BvS, loved Kubo and Deadpool, my favorites are JP, SW and Indy), but sometimes some movies have an effect on us while it doesn't on other people. I understand that most people that watched the movie (please note: watched the movie, not only the trailer) might have not liked it. I did, so what? Because everyone is so full of hatred (both sides, the ones that attack the movie and the ones that defend it, like those Billy Donelly's pieces from a couple of months ago) I should be full of hatred too? I am just giving my opinion, and I am posting on behalf of Sony? Shame on you. The world is going to crap because of people like you, who doesn't accept there might be other ways to look at things or other tastes in life.
At least I can say I saw the original Ghostbusters in the theatre when first released in the 80s. It was one of the first movies my mom took me to watch at the cinemas. I have seen it three more times after that in different occasions (once in New Zealand, two here in Australia, they like to show it a lot). I own the bluray (which includes G2) and I still consider it one of the best comedies of the 80s, next to Spaceballs and Airplane.
What about you? Do you have a story? Or are you just another unidimensional character who is here to say just one phrase?
By the way, watching it on Youtube... not cool. If you don't want to pay to watch it because it looks bad, then don't watch it. If you want to watch it to check it out anyway (which I imagine you wanted to, that's why you did), then be decent and pay for it like everybody else.

So wait, if I choose not to see it, I'm not "allowed" to criticize it because I haven't seen it. I'm not paying my money to go watch it just so I can talk about it. So yeah, I will watch it on Youtube, I could care less about Hollywood churning out dog shit movies like this over and over and throw a popular brand name on it just to make a buck.

And please, don't go all high and mighty on me about watching a movie for free. You've NEVER snuck into another movie at a theater after seeing

So I guess you don't think I'm with Sony anymore? Good.

And by the way, if you hated it so much beforehand, why watch it? Even on Youtube, even for free? If you are so righteous as it sounds you think you are, why watch a movie you wouldn't like? Isn't that not sticking to your principles?

People like you who think are always right make me sick. I understand people can have different opinions (and, surprisingly, still respect yours in regards to this movie). However, what makes you think

However, what makes you think you can shit on other people's opinion? I hate when people think their opinion are law. Grow up and understand that people might think different than you and that you are not the sole owner of the truth. For example, this movie had over 60% on Rotten Tomatoes. It means a lot of people think different that you, and that is not a bad thing. (Now, I agree with most here that having the "certified fresh" logo on the cover is just awful).

I hope you understand my point.

LOL at the title

Hilarious that they had to retcon the title to Ghostbusters: Answer the Call which wasn't there when it was in the theaters. This turned out to be a damned joke, and the little snippets I saw online were just atrocious. This sullies the name of the franchise.

It was all over the advertising... and it accompanies the title in the credits. Try again.

Actually no it wasn't moron.. anyone who saw the this reboot... and stayed in their seat throughout the end titles, will have seen the Answer The Call suffix used only before the final credits roll.

However, this title was not used in the films opening credits, or in any of the marketing material.

Better luck next time.

More unfunny jokes! More ugly SFX! More self-aware jokes about the internet hating the film! More Kate McKinnon mugging for the camera!! And other great ways to gain greater appreciation for the [actually funny] original!

Wow they put that out on blu ray fast, tells you how bad they want to make some money back. They even had to add the fact that it was certified fresh on the box haha wow.

Why even both putting out a physical version??

What a waste, they should have saved some $$ and put out digital editions only. They've been cramming this shit down our throats on the PS4's store telling us to preorder the movie, before it was even released in theaters. The additional scenes are just more of the same, you got Hemsworth and every other male character being retarded, you got Leslie Jones being a bit louder, you got the scenes that were in the trailer and cut from the theatrical release (the scenes that made the movie the most
