Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones rumored to be close to signing on for Edgar Wright's Ant-Man

10.25.2013

Did you like the rumor about Paul Rudd possibly playing Hank Pym/Ant-Man? How about Rashida Jones being a contender to play Janet Van Dyne? If so, I have some potentially awesome news for you: both are apparently very close to signing on for ANT-MAN, according to Schmoes Know.

The site has learned from a very reliable source (the same source that broke the BEETLEJUICE 2 news last week) that Marvel is interested in pairing Paul Rudd with Rashida Jones, and doesn't call it a rumor but "a very active development within Marvel’s camp." The site also says, "things are close to being announced. And soon."

While I am  in love a slight fanboy when it comes to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man is perfect casting in my opinion. In fact, now the only person I want to play the character is Rudd. And having his I LOVE YOU, MAN co-star as his love interest is a great idea since the two of them had fantastic chemistry in that film. If Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones are really this close to joining ANT-MAN, we could hear something more official very soon.

Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN will be in theaters on July 31st, 2015.

You didn't think I'd miss an opportunity to post a sexy pic of Rashida Jones, did you? Just to be fair, I'll also add one of Paul Rudd for the ladies. Or men, I don't judge.

Extra Tidbit: Ant-Man doesn't always wear cologne, but when he does, he prefers Sex Panther.

Cool I guess. With an obscure character like Ant-Man I think putting a more comedic spin on it is necessary to get people interested. Something like Mystery Men I suppose. Coming out 3 months after Avengers 2 will also help.

Finally, Paul Rudd might just get his day in the sun. I've been a fan of his since 'Halloween 6'. Shut up.

I don't really know much about comics other than what I see in these movies but I'll definitely check this out if Paul Rudd and especially Rashida Jones are involved.

I'm not really familiar with the Ant-Man character, not sure if he's a bit more light hearted than other characters. But I've seen some of Paul Rudd's more dramatic stuff in the past, coupled with his comedic chops and I think he could pull off a really charismatic leading man for a Marvel franchise.

To be honest, I can't see Levitt being in a superhero movie. Nothing against the guy, I think he's been great in everything he's done the last 5 years or so. Just something about him in the

"In fact, now the only person I want to play the character is Rudd."
I feel the same way. It is like just TRY imagining someone other than Robert Downey Jr playing Iron-Man/Tony Stark. Some guys are just right for a role.

Perfect casting in my opinion. I'm just happy that they found someone great to play Ant-Man and Wasp right away instead of torturing us with rumors every other day like they did with Captain America and Star Lord.

But if they both sign on, than this will be one fantastic film.

I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. Ant-man has a nick name for his penis. Its called the Octagon, but he also nick named his testes - his left one is James Westfall and his right one is Dr. Kenneth Noisewater. You ladies play your cards right you just might get to meet the whole gang.

I never read any of these comics, but as additions to the new cinematic Marvel-verse, I consider them great fits. I'm wondering how much influence Whedon has on the work of the various solo film directors. Does he get to hover over them a-la J.K. Rowling & the Potter flicks?

If so, I think Fillion would already be part of the MCU... Or others from the Whedonverse...
