Paulson has Spirit

Sep. 25, 2007by:

Frank Miller has added a bunch of new actors to his upcoming feature directorial debut THE SPIRIT including some classic TV actors. Sarah Paulson, Dan Lauria, Stana Katic, Johnny Simmons and Louis Lombardi join the already cast Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes. Paulson, the best thing about the failed NBC series "Studio 60" (though is that really even a compliment?), will star as the Spirit's true love Ellen Dolan. Lauria, best known as Kevin Arnold's dad on "The Wonder Years" will play the police commissioner and Louis Lombardi (the late, great Edgar from "24") will star as Phobos, a henchman of the Octopus (Jackson). Katic will play a cop while Simmons will play a younger version of our hero. Filming is set to begin this October in New Mexico, shot entirely at Albuquerque Studios. I wonder how much of THE SPIRIT will be shot like previous Miller adaptations SIN CITY and 300 and how much will be traditional filmmaking. Lionsgate will release SPIRIT here in the US and a summer 2009 release is planned.

Extra Tidbit: Paulson is a lesbian and her girlfriend is fellow actress Cherry Jones.

Well, that is too bad, because she is one of those people who probably choo-choo-chooses to be lesbian. That's right. They do exist no matter what Melissa Etheridge says. When both you and your lover look that good--you are choosing to be a lesbian. You were not born that way. I'm a lesbian too, I just happen to be a male lesbian. Born that way.

Well...

...I must disagree with Brokentusk. Studio 60 was a great show the first half of it's season, when it was smart and snappy with the dialogue and the only relationship that had any kind of romance in it was between Paulson's and Matthew Perry's characters. The rest of the show focused on the behind the scenes stuff, which was fantastic.

Then, it was made clear that tv viewers don't want to see a smart show like Studio 60, so what do they do? They add in two more romantic subplots that were so

They add in two more romantic subplots that were so annoyingly cheesy I couldn't wait for the show to get cancelled. All this to get more viewers and in the end they screw up the show royally. BAH!!!!

As for this movie, sounds good for now.

Wait. What?

She's lesbian?! She's going out with Cherry Jones?! You mean to tell me that Sarah Paulson is going out with the sheriff from SIGNS?! Has the world gone mad?! Side note: STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP was one of the best shows ever cancelled. It took a while to hit its stride, but once it did - it was one of the smartest, funniest shows on television.
