Pearce boards Rabbit

After playing it relatively low key for a while, I’m quite excited about Guy Pearce signed on to new projects left and right these days (THE KING’S SPEECH and THE ROAD most recently). Now he’s hopped aboard another film, THE HUNGRY RABBIT JUMPS to star alongside Nic Cage and “Mad Men” angel January Jones.

The details of the film are murky, but the central plot revolves around a regular guy (Cage) who turns to a vigilante group to help him seek justice after his wife (Jones) is assaulted. As you can see on the right, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to imagine Pearce as a vigilante leader.

Pearce, along with folks like Jim Caviezel, is representative to me of a kind of fading breed of actor that sheds the limelight and fame that comes with stardom. I would have used to have said the same about Christian Bale, but he eventually crossed over into the world of paparazzi and celebrity scandal once he put on the cowl of Batman. Could the same ever happen with Pearce? It’s possible, but unlikely, save for if they end up making him Captain America or something.
