Pearce boards Rabbit

Nov. 25, 2009by: Paul Tassi

After playing it relatively low key for a while, I'm quite excited about Guy Pearce signed on to new projects left and right these days (THE KING’S SPEECH and THE ROAD most recently). Now he's hopped aboard another film, THE HUNGRY RABBIT JUMPS to star alongside Nic Cage and “Mad Men” angel January Jones.

The details of the film are murky, but the central plot revolves around a regular guy (Cage) who turns to a vigilante group to help him seek justice after his wife (Jones) is assaulted. As you can see on the right, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to imagine Pearce as a vigilante leader.

Pearce, along with folks like Jim Caviezel, is representative to me of a kind of fading breed of actor that sheds the limelight and fame that comes with stardom. I would have used to have said the same about Christian Bale, but he eventually crossed over into the world of paparazzi and celebrity scandal once he put on the cowl of Batman. Could the same ever happen with Pearce? It’s possible, but unlikely, save for if they end up making him Captain America or something.

Extra Tidbit: I was so pumped to see him at the beginning of THE HURT LOCKER. But then...

Yea, that scene from Hurt Locker of him getting anal raped was just too much.

Really? Come On

The statement about Bale really isn't fair. What happened to Bale this last year wasn't his doing. He didn't seek out the press, the press sought him because he became a more recognizable name to the public. So to suggest that he's no longer an actor is unfair. Heís still one the finest actors working in Hollywood today and his body of work still boast some of the better films to be made in last 10 years. And since all that BS happened he's tried to keep a very low profile but itís kind of hard

And since all that BS happened he's tried to keep a very low profile but itís kind of hard when paparazzi are camped out side your house 24/7. If Pearce lands a more main stream Hollywood role I'm sure his name and picture will increase in the BS rags as well. And no matter what skeletons they may dig up on a person I think the work they do should speak more for them then their personal life drama. No ones perfect, everyone has some past deeds their not proud of.
