We initially caught wind of Zhang Yimou’s mystical monster epic THE GREAT WALL last month when both Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe were attached to star, and now we know who will join them in this insane-sounding flick. Joining Damon and Dafoe is “Narcos” star Pedro Pascal, as well as an all-star Chinese cast comprised of some of the most notable names in the Chinese film industry made up of Andy Lau, Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin, Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan and Wang Junkai. Now that’s a mouthful.

THE GREAT WALL tells the story of an elite force making a last stand for humanity on the world’s most iconic structure.

It follows a soldier who is part of a group of mercenaries traveling to China in order to bring back gunpowder to Europe. When the group is attacked by mystical beasts, the man finds himself in a war between a secret warrior clan and the beasts.

The film will be produced by Thomas Tull, Charles Roven, Jon Jashni, and Peter Loehr.   Jillian Share, Alex Gartner, Bennett Walsh, La Peikang and Zhang Zhao will executive produce with Er Yong, Alex Hedlund and Eric Hedayat co-producing. Production is set to begin in China at the end of March 2015.
