Pineapple Express 2?

Moviehole caught up with Seth Rogen and shot the shit with him about his upcoming projects. Over the course of the interview, he revealed that while people are calling for a sequel to SUPERBAD, he's actually more interested on a follow-up to PINEAPPLE EXPRESS.

Theyre been wanting us to do a sequel to Superbad for so long but weve held off. We eventually said No. But this one, its not a precious coming-of-age story like Superbad, its a weed action-movie and if it did well, and they gave us like $50 million dollars (as opposed to the $26M we got for this one) we could benefit from that.

Well of course the studio wants another SUPERBAD. I've heard that nowadays whenever a Judd Apatow comedy gets greenlit, everyone in line to share in any of the profits - regardless of how small - puts a down-payment on a a Ferrari with diamond encrusted rims and a bowling alley where the back-seats should be.
Extra Tidbit: In SUPERBAD, water was used for vodka, apple juice for hard liquor, and non-alcoholic beer was used for the party scenes. Boo

Maybe!

Saw the movie last night at a screening (introduced by Rogen himself which was pretty bad ass!).
I'd say a sequel is possible, the film ends kind of openly....
Also, it's awesome that Seth and Evan said No to a Superbad sequel, these guys truly rock.

I love superbad, and I'm really glad that they aren't doing a sequel. I really hate sequels just for the hell of making money, b/c they are always significantly worse than the original. It would be like the american pie sequels, lacking the heart and probably just going for cheap laughs. I haven't seen Pineapple express, but it looks like it might have potential to expand into a decent sequel.

Although I'd be curious to see where they'd go with a Superbad sequel, I'm glad they're not doing that. The movie is perfect as it is. I do like the idea of a Pineapple Express sequel though. Granted I haven't seen it yet, it'd be cool to see one of their movies have a sequel.

im not on the way of thinking that sequels are bad.. i mean, sometimes they truly fuck up something good and great... but i still enjoy seeing continuing adventures of characters that i enjoy!

As for Superbad... i dont think a College set story would be that bad of an idea! Given we bring back all the same characters and the same BTS staff. Havnt seen Pineapple yet, so i dont know if a Sequel is necessary, but if it is good, i certainly wouldnt mind a sequel!

i personally want a sequel to 40 year old virgin, Basically a story about smart tech because those guys are gold. It could be like office space but in the retail electronic industry.

Nice.

I've got big respect for these folks for being so hesitant about a Superbad sequel. In an age where sequels are greenlit on the first movie's opening day, it's increasingly apparent that it's all about money. It doesn't seem to be that way with these guys here.
