Pirate Radio poster

Oct. 9, 2009by: Paul Tassi

Here we have a new poster for the pile of feel-goodery that is sure to be Richard Curtis' PIRATE RADIO, which tells the vaguely true story of a rogue vessel of DJs that broadcast rock and roll during the '60s after the British government had banned it from the airways. The film is said to be “inspired by true events,” my least favorite movie tagline addendum, and sadly, a lot of it is made up or exaggerated. But I think I’m probably just going to pretend this all actually happened, as it’s much more fun than the actual history.

The poster shows the DJs walking the plank in surreal photoshop fashion, and makes me think just how very much I wouldn’t like to be on a thin piece of wood with Nick Frost behind me. Though it doesn’t say it on the poster, PIRATE RADIO hits the States November 13th.

Extra Tidbit: Did Frost put on more weight for the role or...?

I liked the film's original title THE BOAT THAT ROCKED better.

The poster isn't that great and i find it funny how the USA trailer makes u think that it is Hoffman who runs the whole show when it's really a team effort and sort of unnecessary to change the name of the film.

Not that it really matters - the movie is really funny and i strongly recommend it if u want a good time.

Damn it seems like I first saw a preview for this movie 2 years ago. I thought it had been on dvd already.

Actually the posters over here were a little simpler and a bit better in that regard.

They were all facing like on abbey road but now they've turned Phillip Seyomour to have him facing out more. Also they had this kind of 60's coloured one with a different face per square.

This one is heavily photoshopped and really it's aim is clear. I don't think they think americans will go see this unless there's a little more going on.

Studios suck. Also the new name sucks.
