Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales official synopsis revealed

pirates 5

It’s the official news you have all been waiting for! Well, maybe just a select few. As news items about the fifth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trickled in over the last few months it was clear a lot of us were less than optimistic. I wouldn’t blame anyone either, the franchise seemed to lose its footing a while back, and so the prospect of another big budget nautical nightmare was less than appealing. But here we are with production now underway in Queesnland, Australia on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES.

Disney has officially unveiled the official synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him.  Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

As mentioned above, , Javier Bardem will play the film’s villain and he’s joined in the cast by some rising YA movie stars such as Kaya Scodelario (THE MAZE RUNNER), Brenton Thwaites (THE GIVER), and Golshifteh Farahani (THE PATIENCE STONE), with Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham returning to their roles as Barbossa, Gibbs, and Scrum respectively. This will be the first film in the series with a new writer as Jeff Nathanson (INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) replaces Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio.

I’m not excited right now but with all this time away from the waters you can only hope they used it to tighten up a coherent story and practise a little resistance when it comes to Depp screen time. There wasn't a release date mentioned in the news, so the previous date of July 7, 2017 is what we’re sticking with, but don’t be surprised if we get it sooner as it sounds like they are going full steam ahead now (thank MORTDECAI for that).

Are you ready for more Jack Sparrow?

We miss you JD.
