The latest PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN adventure finds Captain Jack Sparrow evading deadly ghost pirates (what else?) led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem). Having escaped from the Devil’s Triangle, Salazar is determined to kill every pirate at sea...including Jack Sparrow. The teaser for the film (of which you can see below) hit last weekend, and now one of the film's directors had a few words to share regarding its reception.

A big thanks to the millions of you out there that have watched our new teaser trailer for PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: Dead Men Tell No Tales! I'm so grateful for your enthusiasm and comments. The last couple of days have really reminded me why I love movies - and why I wanted to make this one ❤️☠️

While I'm a mild fan of the PIRATES movies thus far, I do believe that someone can come along and make another decent one. As mentioned in the previous article, directors Ronning and Sandberg did a hell of a job with KON-TIKI, and it's almost for that reason alone I'm looking forward to seeing what DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES has to offer.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES will open in theaters on May 26, 2017.

First one was great, second two were too long and bloated and I'm really not a fan of Kiera Knightley. This one hopefully is a return to form - perhaps the boy in the prison is Will Turners son given that Orlando Bloom is in this one and we saw his son at the end of POTC 3

Call me crazy but I freaking loved 2 and 3. Yes, they were way overstuffed, and 3 wasn't nearly as good as 2, but I still thought they were epic and fantastic pirate adventures.

4, for me, was awful and a total wasted opportunity. Looking forward to this one. Something about that "Pirates" aesthetic just gets me excited!

I've enjoyed three out of the four films (first one being my favorite, and the third one being my least favorite) that have come out so far, but I'm really hoping this new one can match the fun and excitement the first one was in terms of everything.

Having Bloom back and having Bardem as the villain is a good start. Would also like to see Knightley return as well in some form.

For the most part, I've liked these movies. The first one was excellent, the 2nd and 3rd kind of went off the rails. But the 4th seemed like a great effort to get it back on track. This one at least seems to be keeping that momentum. Say what you want about this franchise going on too long, they quality has at least been better than Transformers...
