Pitt/Aronofsky news

06.10.2002

Following the rumors last week of a title change and studio troubles for the Brad Pitt/Darren Aronofsky collaboration comes the official word from Warner Bros.  It turns out the internet rumblings were half-right. The film will undergo a title change from THE LAST MAN to THE FOUNTAIN.  The film will not leave Warner Bros.  Instead co-financier Village Roadshow has left the production and been replaced by New Regency (DAREDEVIL).  This has eased some of Warners concerns about budgetary issues ($75 million for what's been described as an awfully hard sell).  Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett will star in the film which has only been described to date as being a sci-fi/historical epic/religious tale.   Filming still looks to be on-track to begin this fall for a summer 2003 release.
