If someone told me that a bank heist film was being made “in the vein of Heat and Dog Day Afternoon,” I would say count me in and take my money. Well it’s happening and Matt Reeves (DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES) has signed on to helm the untitled bank heist thriller based on a pitch from Matt Charman that will be produced by Tobey Maguire. There’s no word yet on whether Maguire will also star and no actors have been announced as of yet. Charman’s hot right now due to his script for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Cold War drama starring Tom Hanks. Also, don’t fear Ape fans, Reeves will do the heist thriller after he finishes the untitled Apes sequel, which is currently set for July 29, 2016.

There are no details about the plot, but as mentioned it’s described as being in the vein of two of the greatest movies ever that deal with bank heists. That’s probably the best place to start if you’re making a bank heist movie right? Go back and see what the best had to offer and see what you can do now.
