All that STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS fan-fiction about Oscar Isaac's Resistance pilot Poe Dameron is about to get a fresh influx on material to work off heading into the new year, as Dameron will be getting his own Marvel Comics series starting in April.

STAR WARS: POE DAMERON will offer up a bit of backstory about who the character is, where he came from and what makes him so damn valuable to the Resistance. You should expect to get plenty of information about how Dameron got to where he was at the start of THE FORCE AWAKENS, trying to track down Max Von Sydow's Lor San Tekka on Jakku for whatever information he had concerning the whereabouts of the missing Luke Skywalker.

Some of Poe's pre-TFA origin can be gotten from the SHATTERED EMPIRE miniseries that let up to THE FORCE AWAKENS, but while those were small breadcrumbs about his parentage and where he grew up, the Marvel series will explore his adventures later in life dealing with a new as-yet-unintroduced enemy from the First Order.

As for his bromance with Finn that has a lot of fans excited... well, you're going to have to leave it to Rian Johnson to further dig into for STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII.

I thought Poe Dameron was one of the coolest characters to be introduced in the TFA. But had the most annoying plot arc in the movie. I think it's cool to have a character that is simply a soldier in the resistance. We never really got that in the OT when you think about it (aside from Leia). So to have a character that is part of the resistance for his own reasons/beliefs I think will help to flesh out who and what the resistance is in future episodes. But also give some more excitement

I thought his character arc was annoying in the movie because we're introduced to his character first of anyone else in the movie (aside from BB-8). He gets captured and then rescued by Finn. Even during his capture Poe was awesome. Then after the rescue he just disappears for a large chunk of the movie and then reappears, good to go and with a brand new x-wing. And his rescue from Jakku is explained entirely in exposition. I'm not sure of a better way to have handled that part of the story. It just seems like something that was glossed over by the writers. But then when he's reintroduced to the story, he's back to being awesome. I'm not sure if including him in the middle chunk of the movie would have helped or hindered the development of Finn and Rey as our new heroes. But hopefully this comic series will help build up his character more leading into Ep. VIII where he'll hopefully have a much more substantial role to play. I'm so hoping Finn, Poe, and BB-8 have become the resistance's new crack team of soldiers by the time they meet up with Rey, Chewie, R2 and Luke.

I suspect that, unlike the STAR WARS fan-fiction,

Poe Dameron won't be taking time out from his galaxy-hopping exploits for a steamy tryst with Finn. :P

He was my favorite new character in the Force Awakens and I was a little disappointed he was taken out so early only to pop up by the end again. Hopefully he'll have a more vital role like Rey, and Finn did in Episodes eight and nine.

Poe was the most criminally under-developed character....

It will be good to get some back story. I know I'm supposed to like him (the film told me so.....repeatedly), but I struggled to find anything cool about him. Additionally, his bromance with Finn was way too forced and didn't feel organic the way Han & Luke's friendship started. It looks like his character has potential (and I loved the tracking shot of him wiping out a dozen tie fighters plus stormtroopers on the ground), but they need to spend time making him important if he's going to be
