Poltergeist release date

Aug. 13, 2009by:

    POLTERGEIST's dreaded clown

The almost-inevitable remake to the early-80s fright classic POLTERGEIST was indeed announced two years ago, with a director and writers drafted a year later, but not a peep's been heard from it since then, prompting die hard fans to feel/think/hope-to-high-friggin-heavens it had simply died an agonizing and definitive death. Sadly, such isn't the case...

According to the folks of ShockTillYouDrop, MGM re-confirmed the film by settling on a release date: November 24th 2010, AKA Thanksgiving weekend. A full three weeks AFTER Halloween. Curious strategy, but hey - a weekend that works for TWILIGHT works for undesired remakes too, right?

The revamp to Tobe Hooper's 1982 haunted house flick comes from third-time director Vadim Perelman, working on a script by BOOGEYMAN writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. Money well spent.

Extra Tidbit: How many childhoods have been ruined by that freaky clown?

The first movie is fucking perfect. They are going to ruin this! Wow, the writers of Boogyman? Really? Thats the best they could muster for a classic like this one?

What happened to the good old days when great writers and directors where making movies???

chickens

Studios are basically cowards. Risk managing their investments and not caring about the art. I would say there is more money to be made in originality. But then who am I to question?

Well you know what? The first movie was uneven. I say that and I thought the first half was just...absolutely terrifying and amazing. The second half was just plain WEIRD and kind of dumb at times (like...why the f*ck would the family stay there, for starters?). If a remake was made that really captured everything that made the first one good, shed the weird, and emphasized the good for the whole film...it could be potentially pretty decent. Just my thoughts.

They already do, they're called 'Re-boots'
Give Aronofsky or PTA all the remake money and let them make one GOOD movie instead of the 500 shit ones.

Urgh...

Unoriginal bastards. When will the remakes end?! Soon they'll be re-making remakes for Christ's sake!
