Universal is moving ahead at Universal after the original film's co-writer Chris Morgan submitted a story treatment. Now the studio has formally hired a screenwriter to flesh out the concept and they found a writer in the oddest place: POOH'S HEFFALUMP MOVIE. Uni has hired Evan Spiliotopoulos whose writing credits to date include the aforementioned HEFFALUMP movie, it's Halloween-inspired sequel, LION KING 1 1/2 and THE LITTLE MERMAID 3. Spiliotopoulos came to the recognition of Universal not because Maddox Jolie is a huge HEFFALUMP fan but because he submitted a non-Disney sequel script, THE LAST CALL, in development at the studio.

Timur Bekmambetov, who directed the original film, is producing the sequel and is attached to direct but hasn't yet signed a deal. Without giving away a good portion of the original, it's expected that WANTED will be a prequel.

I can dig it...
Even having read the graphic novel I really enjoyed the movie, but why a prequel? We know the hits were being manipulated. A sequel that follows Wesley would be better I think.

To any of you who thought this movie was an original concept, check out the graphic novel. Bending bullets is FAR from the best thing about it.

eehhhhh....
I personally liked Wanted until I read the graphic novel it was based on. It RUINED the movie for me lol. The gn was dark, and intense with an INSANE story line. He was a super villain for fuck's sake, not some asassin in an orginization out to do good. This movie, despite having a "R" rating, is like watching the kiddie version. Some scenes were familiar but for the most part it really fell...

YES, A BIG HIT
Personally, I really enjoyed Wanted at the theater and again at home. It was a fun movie - and calling it a "big hit" is an understatement. It had a production budget of $75 million and made $341 million - and that was with an R rating! That is a huge hit.

I personally thought that, the first 10-15 minutes aside, this movie really sucked.

Liked the first one. I welcome more Wanted, and more of Jolie's sweet ass.

Proof Reading works wonders...
For a moment I was confused as to what was going on... I figured it out though, the sequel or prequel whatever it turns out to be will be drafted by a guy who helped write some disney movies.

The Wanted Videdo Game
Acted as a prequel/sequel with the player playing as Wesley a few hours after the events of the movie and Cross (his father) in the early 80's. My guess is the next movie will be a sequel that was possibly drawn out of the comics.

everything shuichi1985 said.. it was the complete and utter definition of all style and no substance. I felt so disconnected from the movie that I could care less with that big Morgan Freeman twist and with Jolie's death. God I hope there's no sequel.

UGH
seriously? the first film had a lot of promise: an interesting premise, a strong cast, a new yet promising director. I went to it, and after leaving, wished i'd waited till the DVD hit and just paid $1 for it at the red box. It was dissconnected, overly stylized, and migraine inducing. The acting was so-so, and way to cheesy. Why does this warrant a sequel?

OK
I thought Wanted was a cool concept for a film and that was executed (hehe) well. I would pay for a sequel, but I don't think they need to bring back the original cast. Why don't they expand on the whole universe with secret brotherhoods and have it somewhere else in the world. Sort of like with F&F: Tokyo Drift (although that was crap).

we only need a sequal to this movie if they make it right... that means have the cool gear he wears in the graphic novel... that means have cooler villians not necessarily having the villians from the graphic novel but close enough...

SPOILER:

It's a prequel so they can bring Jolie and Freeman back, who both died at the end of the first movie.

Doesn't have to be...(SPOILERS)
...a prequel. I mean, wasn't he alive at the end?
