Poster twofer: Teaser one-sheets for Bruce Willis actioner Red 2 and Steven Spielberg's Lincoln

We've got a double whammy of poster debut's today, featuring the comic book sequel RED 2 and Steven Spielberg's biopic of LINCOLN.  Both posters fit well within their respective genres and exude the resonance we'd expect.

Directed by Dean Parisot (GALAXY QUEST) and starring Bruce Wilis, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary Louise-Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Neal McDonough and Byung Hun-Lee, RED 2 is currently filming with an eye for release in 2013.

Here's their "red"-themed poster:

Steven Spielberg's LINCOLN stars Daniel Day Lewis as the renowned leader, joined by a massive cast, including Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jackie Earle Haley, David Strathairn, Sally Field, James Spader, John Hawkes, and Jared Harris.  With just two months to go before release and nary a snippet of footage thus far, it seems that Spielberg is riding the tide of his subject, cast, and esteem to market this one, although I'd anticipate a trailer very soon.

Here's honest Abe:

RED 2 hits theaters on August 2, 2013 and LINCOLN is set to address theaters on November 16, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: If you could only see one of these films in theaters, which would it be? For me, the mix of Spielberg, Daniel Day Lewis, and Abe Lincoln is too much for me to miss in a darkened theater.

Anthony Hopkins is in RED 2

You guys didn't report this yet (unless I missed it) but he did an interview in I believe GQ Magazine (or one of those men's mags) and said he'll be doing Red 2 with Bruce and Helen Mirren next year.

Yep, I put his name as part of the cast in there. I don't recall if we ran an article on it or not, though. Very cool, though. I hope he and Bruce Willis get some cool scenes together as that could very well be a bad ass duo.

Daniel Day-Lewis will rock the role again!

Daniel Day-Lewis looks great in the poster for "Lincoln".
Could not stand "Red", relieved to see it's not the same director from the first crap film.

The LINCOLN poster is unreal, they look identical. Also the thought of Mirren, Jones and Parker in the same frame is too hot to comprehend.

The first Red was a surprise fun. Definitely Red 2 for me.

I quite like that the Red 2 poster doesn't place its emphasis on the faces of its stars, the silhouetted badasses-in-a-line imagery along with the actors' names to the side works better than some overly-photoshopped celebrity headshots pasted together (though it is, of course, just a teaser poster). The simple, solemnly old-school poster for Lincoln (which also shows us how very, very much Daniel Day-Lewis in-character looks like the real deal) is great too!

The Lincoln poster is a little on the Oscar-y side, but it's still very beautiful. DDL and his acting make my heart go boom, and I would be delighted if this movie is a big success, and he lands a third golden statue. I don't wanna get my hopes up too much, but it's hard not to.
