Preview: World War Z Mobile Game just in time for the Zombie Apocalypse!
With the zombie apocalypse eminent – at least according to the Brad Pitt starring WORLD WAR Z coming our way on June 21st – are you ready to join in the fight? Your chance is finally coming in a shoot ‘em up, action packed video game from Paramount Digital Entertainment and award-winning Phosphor Games Studio. Soon, you too can play a part in fighting the flesh eating undead thanks to the new mobile friendly game based on the film.
Recently, JoBlo was invited to get a sneak peek into this new shooter style, movie themed game. Set for release this Friday, May 30th, WORLD WAR Z takes you into a deadly world where you must maneuver the hero to travel across the globe to try and get to his family and possibly save the world. What sets this apart from many recent movie themed apps is the surprisingly impressive design and detail. There are 28 levels where you must search for clues, find weapons and do some damage to a seemingly never ending horde of zombie baddies.
For a really great gamer, this $4.99 priced package can be defeated in about three hours give or take. Of course for many of us it may take a lot longer… for me at least, a WHOLE LOT LONGER. The story based game will lead you through several different cities across the globe. There are two modes in the game including the “Story Mode” and the “Challenge Mode.” The challenge mode is a more traditional way of extending the story and facing different challenges during game play. If you are simply in the mood to play the story mode, you can bring everything you learn from that experience into the challenge mode as well. Basically, it all depends on how much time you want to spend kicking ass and taking names… or just getting eaten alive.
If you are a fan of shooter style games, this is definitely worth a try. However it may get a tad redundant for the casual gamer who will have trouble navigating through the myriad of city streets and abandoned buildings. I think I spent more time walking around a dark room looking for a way to get out as opposed to actually shooting anything. At least visually it is very impressive so it is certainly fun to explore. And for that price it is pretty reasonable, especially with the impressive detail. It did take a bit to get used to the touch control, but once you do it is fairly simple. And maybe it’s just me, but I appreciated the fact that the music in the game only plays when zombies are a huntin’. Considering this is a movie based game, which are oftentimes pretty dreadful, this is definitely one of the more satisfying and indeed “action packed” ones on the market.
