Princess & Frog art

The first teaser for Disney's THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, its first hand-drawn animated film in God knows how long and the first to feature a black princess, met with some decidedly mixed reaction - some praised Disney's return to form and some were downright pissed off at everything about it, from story to animation. With that said, Disney recently posted 7 new pics of the film at their animation site that should assuage those animation naysayers. Or get them even more pissed off. We get to see it all put together Christmas Day next year.

Extra Tidbit: The site also has a cool logo for Disney's upcoming THE KING OF THE ELVES and a half-pic of their other upcoming flick RAPUNZEL.

First of all it looks amazing, second its about time Disney did a hand-drawn film, and last its about time we've got a black princess.

This looks really great. My gut feeling says this movie might after the dust settles go up there along the likes of The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan and others.

Princess and the Frog- A turn for Disney to get back at the old hat with 2D animation or just a guilt fueled trip back in time so the company doesn't go down in history for neglecting black princesses?

you decide tonight on hardball.

Ha! It's got every disney staple: A complex parade scene, a [link] city street, at least two musical numbers (which assumes at least one more, for the villian), a love scene set near a shallow body of water, and at least one really tall hallway that's lit thematically.

All they're missing is to release a picture of the scene where the film goes abstract and impressionist for a couple minutes, and I'll be set!

Anybody else think this film is also just a ploy to "theme" the New Orleans part of Disneyland next to the Haunted Mansion? Instead of trolling the restaurants there for "adult" fare, you can get "Princess Tiana Cajun Chicken Fingers"!

It's nice to see Disney at least attempting to recapture the quality of their older movies. That trailer was especially funny, and this artwork looks really great.

princess & frog

I'm excited for Disney's new slew of animated films, this artwork is awsome, and the film will be too, I hope Rapunzel isn't an all out CG film and has hand drawn animation incorporated in it, still can't wait.

I'm very excited for this. I'm a huge fan of the classic Disney films, and it's great to see them going back to traditional animation.
