Princess kisses Frog

May. 10, 2009by: Omar Aviles

<a href=THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG" />

When the princess kisses the frog, the frog is supposed to turn into the prince and live happily ever after with the princess, right? Well, not so much. According to Disney's upcoming return to hand-drawn, 2D animation, THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, something else happens - the princess gets herpes. Ok, so maybe something a little less gross happens. The princess in question, though, lives in New Orleans during the Jazz Age and gets caught up not only with jazz and frogs but voodoo and singing alligators. Check out the film's first teaser below to see what happens to Princess Tiana. See the princess' full adventure on December 11th.

Extra Tidbit: PRINCESS directors Ron Clements and John Musker also directed ALADDIN and THE LITTLE MERMAID.

I'm super excited to see 2D back. Any 3D flick not made by Pixar just looks junky.

High quality 2D animation is leaps and bounds better than 3D any day.

Not sure I care about the movie itself, although I believe I'm in the minority that is celebrating the return of 2d animation. I think that Pixar CG stuff is hideous.

Very disappointing teaser after that first one. This movie just looks cliched and done. It looks half baked and the trailer god it felt like a straight to video with taht voiceover and i wish they would stop putting all their past wins at the start. Try and sell the movie on it's own merits please. Everythign abou tthis annoyed me but i just pray i'm proved wrong come it's release.

is this actually coming out in theaters? thats pretty cool. Im not sure if a movie about two frogs will be that good though, but who knows.

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Since most Disney Princesses are white, it would be culturally important for them to create their first "black princess". But instead of making her a princess just like the others, showing equality, they turn her into a talking animal in the first act, thus rendering any culutral/social implications of a black princess moot. Frisky is playing the part of a racist, sarcastically remarking on this character change as a positive thing, when really he is

Either that, or he/she is truly a racist and should promptly gtfo. But I'm an optimist. :]

'Luckily they turn her into a frog early...'

What do you mean by that comment? I'm curious.

Uhm

Did New Orleans have a royal family? Maybe I missed something...

Anyway, this looks alright. The animation definitly looks tops, but the set up doesn't feel as classic as the films they compare it too. Anyway, I hope EVERYONE goes out and sees it, just so Disney will start re-investing in 2D films.
