Professor X and Mystique freak people out with their powers in this new X-Men clip

I feel like I should be more excited for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. I’m a big X-Men fan but there’s something about this new film that just isn’t bringing out a lot of passion in me. The marketing material to date has been sketchy at best so now that we have our first full clip from the film, I’m curious to see what we’ve got. And?…

In this clip a young Charles Xavier and Raven Darkholme visit the CIA to explain mutants and their abilities. The agents are skeptical until the Professor and his friend get a little persuasive. Check it out below and let’s talk on the other side.

For one, this clip seems very awkwardly edited. I’m not sure if that’s the way it is in the movie or it was edited down for this particular clip (I’m hoping the latter). For another, this doesn’t seem very grounded in the late-60s other than skinny ties and horn-rimmed glasses. Rose Byrne looks like she came right from the BRIDESMAIDS set. I like Jennifer Lawrence as an actress but her look as Mystique just seems wrong. I can’t quite put my finger on it. That said, I was intrigued to see an older generation of Stryker in this clip but I’m guessing he doesn’t play a huge part in the film.

I’m still not sold but what do you guys think? You diggin this?
