Quentin Tarantino confirms that filming on Hateful Eight will begin in 2015

Earlier this month, Kurt Russell said that he may start shooting THE HATEFUL EIGHT with Tarantino around the beginning of next year. Despite Tarantino seeming like he had warmed up to the idea of shooting a version of THE HATEFUL EIGHT, there had been no confirmation from the studio or QT himself. It’s possible QT was just waiting for the right venue to convey the news, as he’s confirmed during his panel at SDCC that shooting on THE HATEFUL EIGHT will start in early 2015.

A reading of the script was performed earlier this year by the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Bruce Dern, Walton Goggins, James Parks, Michael Madsen and James Remar. While it seems Russell is rearing to go, there’s been no official word on casting yet. I’m more than happy with that stage line-up, so if Tarantino is able to bring them back in front of the cameras, that would be great!

For what it’s worth, Tarantino also remarked about an Earth-bound Sci-Fi film he had in mind. Whether or not that comes to fruition, we’ll see. He also said he liked the idea of putting his own spin on INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, where his take would be the point-of-view of the pod people. Whether or not that idea and his Earth-bound Sci-Fi flick are connected . . . remains to be seen. Looks like he’ll venture more into western territory first!

THE HATEFUL EIGHT, with at least Kurt Russell, will begin filming in early 2015.
