Quentin Tarantino has "calmed down", may film The Hateful Eight in November

May. 27, 2014by:

Quentin Tarantino fans may still end up getting to see THE HATEFUL EIGHT and sooner than we imagined. After his first draft of the screenplay was leaked online and his lawsuit against Gawker was thrown out of court, Tarantino has apparently calmed down a bit and may begin filming the follow-up to DJANGO UNCHAINED this November.

According to Showbiz 411, Tarantino has been continuing to edit and revise THE HATEFUL EIGHT and is working on a third draft. He previously floated ideas of publishing the screenplay in book form and also did a live staged reading of it in Hollywood featuring potential cast-members Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walt Goggins, and Zoe Bell. Almost all of those actors appeared in DJANGO UNCHAINED. Noticeably missing is Christoph Waltz with whom Tarantino has worked with on his last two films and has won an Oscar for each.

Quentin Tarantino is always a director we love to see new films from and his output has only become more diverse with each film. THE HATEFUL EIGHT would mark his second western in a row but all indications are that this film is nowhere near the same tone or style as DJANGO and follows more along the path of an Agatha Christie novel. I am crossing my fingers that this turns out to be true and we will be getting to see a new QT movie in 2015, a year already lining up to be a historically great one for films.

I've said it once and I will say it again...

What a fucking cry baby. I knew he was gonna do this shit all along. His ego needs to retire.

Come on, Tarantino is known for his indecisiveness, his incessant (false) promises etc. I don't see the difference between the endless back-and-forth on Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, for instance, and his pussyfooting vis-a-vis The Hateful Eight. The latest example is his possible 4 hour miniseries version of Django Unchained... don't know about you but I'm not holding my breath.
Also, you mustn't forget that the only reason you've been hearing this plethora of his comments concerning

Also, you mustn't forget that the only reason you've been hearing this plethora of his comments concerning the whole debacle is because dozens, if not hundreds, of journalist have been asking him about it, it's not like he's running around crying about it to whoever will listen. Just because you feel he should remain quiet after being fucked over doesn't make him a whiner if he doesn't.

Yeah. I get that. But why keep poking at those wounds? First he cancels it, then he decides to do a live reading, then he wants to rewrite it, then he says he might do it down the line and now he wants to start the project up again. Its like dude c'mon get over yourself. Stop being such a drama queen diva! If he was so hurt and outraged he should have just scrapped it all together forever. Instead of just throwing a titty tantrum like a little kid. Grow up. Director's get screwed over all the

Instead of just throwing a titty tantrum like a little kid. Grow up. Director's get screwed over all the time. But they suck it up and they keep their integrity intact. My point is why go through this whole song and dance when deep down inside you knew you were going to shoot it all along no matter what. I like his films, I understand his frustration. The man is talented. I can't nor will I take that away from him. But don't let your fanboydom get in the way of seeing this whole thing for what it is. A tantrum. If it's a spade, I'm gonna call it a spade no matter how much I might love a certain director.

I agree with you. While I love his movies, I do not like the man. Almost everything I have seen with him in interviews makes me think he is a complete dick. While this sucked for him nonetheless, he could handle himself better. Nothing makes your fans love you more by giving them a project announcement and then pulling it like a drama queen.

And you'd be all, "Aw, shucks!" and giggles if someone screwed you like that?
Whether you like the man and his work or not, I think his reaction was pretty apropos. I know I'd be out for blood if I was in his shoes.

I'm going to confidently say that I have never enjoyed his films more than the last two. He is on a best of all time role of films and to have something that he put his heart into to be more or less stolen from him is a tough thing to deal with in his shoes. He may come off whiny, but all that tells me is that he thought he had another great film ready to go.

I'll see anything the guy does now because like him or not, his films change the game every time. He is one of the best. You put

Not many can say that, let the guy make his films his way. I'm willing to wait. I don't have to read the script the second it leaves his hand.

Great News!

Too bad Joblo already spoiled the ending in an article about Hateful Eight a few months back.

To be fair, changing and revising does not necessarily imply changing the ending.

The 2nd and 3rd drafts are completely different from the 1st draft. I have the script too. And I can't wait to see what the hateful eight evolves into after the shooting script is done.

Hence revising and editing a third draft. Obviously it will be a different ending.

Good video, he's always interesting even if you don't like him. I would like JoBlo to do a survey on the ten most exciting directors like Tarantino did with his friends. If you didn't watch, exciting in the sense that you cannot wait for their next film thinking that his/her best work is yet to come.

Glad to see him revising this film again and hopefully brings in the majority (if not all) of the cast that read for the table read. He just needs to add Waltz and go for a third in a row Oscar win and give Goggins a big, vital role since the guy needs anther big role after Justified is all said and done next year.

I would also love to see Tarantino do a Gangster type film anywhere from the 1920's to 1950's after he is done doing his Western theme.

Gangster flick is just what he should do! A straight up mobster film, picture The Godfather but with Tarantino's signature style and dialogue, wow!

I know some people are calling him a crybaby and saying he was wrong to react that way. Well, right or wrong, I can't say I would have reacted any differently in his shoes. As long as we get a new movie from him, I'm happy--Inglourious Basterds is his all time best, as far as I'm concerned, and Django was excellent, too. Bring on more QT!

May be QT wants to teach a lesson to Hollywood agents and internet script leakers and show them what happens if they mess with him and his script

Eh. Def want to see new QT films, just not sure if I'm really interested in this one. QT seems to be adding more and more unnecessary dialogue to his films that fatten them up a little. The first scene in IB where Waltz interrogates the man in 2 languages about hiding Jews is absolutely flawless. Like every word is perfect. The rest of the film and Django and Kill Bill 2 all had that at times, but I'm concerned he may have KWS (Kanye West Syndrome = where you are legit creative geniuses

QT is amazing, but to me his films haven't been super sharp since kill bill. His last two had parts where it felt like they weren't sure what they wanted to be, or they wanted to be multiple things. If he just woulda stuck with one thing (a French style film ab a Jewish girl running a theatre in Nazi Germany or a more fun Grindhouse/fake history Americans killin nazi's), the film would've been better I think. ...Like everything I just wrote, he's lacking some focus
