Quentin Tarantino releases his Best of 2011 list

Quentin Tarantino has just released his own best of list for 2011 and it’s about as odd as you might expect. I guess it’s hard to guess what some of our favorite filmmakers may or may not like, but it turns out their choices are just as varied and strange as our own. We all have our dark horses each year (mine was IMMORTALS and BATTLE: LOS ANGELES), so for Tarantino to include floating turds like THE THREE MUSKETEERS and RED STATE on his list, it’s not much of a shocker.

What IS a shocker is that not only did Tarantino include a “Best of” list, but also a “Nice try” list, which from that simple context seems like a “Worst of” list. Perhaps he just felt they didn’t live up to the hype, but I think it’s safe to say that the only film that no one had expectation for was DRIVE ANGRY. Seems like a dick move to me, especially without clarification. I thought lists like that were reserved for movie news site asshole writers.

“ahem.”

Lest we forget, Tarantino started out as a “JoBlo” like the rest of us, genuinely loving (and hating) movies, so I suppose he is entitled an opinion, but then there’s that whole thing about “shitting where you eat.”
