Quentin Tarantino reveals that his next film will be a western

Well, fans of Quentin Tarantino now have something to look forward to.

While visiting The Tonight Show last night, the autueur revealed just what his next film will be.

"I haven't told anyone this publicly, but I will say the genre: It's a western."

The film won't be a sequel to DJANGO UNCHAINED, which won him a best screenplay Oscar, but something else entirely.

"I had so much fun doing Django, and I love westerns so much that after I taught myself how to make one, it's like 'OK! Let me make another one now that I know what I'm doing."

Tarantino didn't give specifics on the actual story as he usually holds those details close to the chest, but did discuss his writing habits,

"Around the time of Inglourious Basterds I'd start writing at home from 10 in the morning until 5, or 6 or 7," he said. He would then go soak in the pool to mull over his work for the day.

"I sit there, and I think about it and all of these ideas come to me … and I kind of work it out a little bit. Then I get out of the pool and I make notes, but then I don't do them. Then the next day, that's my work."

Like most film geeks, I've been a fan of Tarantino since RESERVOIR DOGS and he's continued to be a filmmaker with a voice since that time. He's one of the few filmmakers to remain consistent in terms of delivering quality work, tackling new techniques and genres, while still retaining his personal style. If nothing else, he's an exciting filmmaker to watch, just to see what he'll do next, even if it's likely another take on a revenge flick.

More as this develops.
