Raimi directs Warcraft | Movie News
It looks like James Cameron's AVATAR will no longer be the talk of this year's Comic-Con, not with the news that Sam Raimi will be directing the WARCRAFT movie. The film will be a live-action adaptation of the fantasy video game franchise "World of Warcraft", which features an epic conflict between the Horde and the Alliance. Since its debut in 1994, the game has amassed a global following and has become synonymous with geek culture. With Raimi set to direct--the man responsible for the SPIDER-MAN and EVIL DEAD franchises, this is truly a match made in grape slurpee heaven. As if that wasn't enough, THE DARK KNIGHT's Charles Roven is on board to produce, with production set to begin once Raimi completes SPIDER-MAN 4. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm suddenly in the mood for some cheetos and some masturbation.

You guys are morons. Not a big fan of WoW, but looking forward to seeing what Raimi does with it.

It wont be that difficult to pull off live action with Lotr paving the way. I am upset that they are setting the Horde up as the villains apparently. They really should focus on the tenuous alliance that was forged to defeat Archimonde. That would make a more compelling story for a film. If they set it up as a trilogy it could work out nicely with horde and alliance at war in the first, forging a truce in the scond to defeat a common enemy, and falling back into war in the third.

It definitely has potential to be cool, so I don't know why people are dismissing it so quickly. I doubt it will be like other adaptations where the studio didn't give a shit if it was actually good.

Also I'm a huge fan of the Evil Dead series, but it wouldn't be a huge loss if a fourth movie was never made. Should've happened years ago if it was eve going to happen - no need to get all 'Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' on it.

the lore for that game is almost too big/too much to justify a movie being made. but whatver.

Now, how to differentiate this from the LoTR movies without making it seem like a rehash in storytelling.
