Ralph Fiennes says Sam Mendes' Bond 24 to start filming in October

Feb. 28, 2014by: Jesse Giroux

At this point, we really don't know that much about the 24th Bond film with Sam Mendes directing. Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Naomie Harris will be back (although cinematographer Roger Deakins won't be returning) and Craig has said the next film will be a return of the "old irony" from the previous Bond flicks, but other than that, there hasn't been that many details released on BOND 24.

But at least we now know when filming will start. In an interview with MTV News, Ralph Fiennes says shooting should start in October, although like the rest of us, he doesn't know a damn thing about the film itself.

"It's meant to start shooting in October. I haven't read a script yet, so I can't tell you much. They'd probably swear me to secrecy anyway."

The script for the new movie comes from SKYFALL co-writer John Logan, and with the MGM and Danjaq LLC lawsuit finally being settled last year, some have speculated villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld could return for the new movie. Who knows if Blofeld will actually appear in the new movie or not, but personally I think it'd be a great idea. What would you like to see in the next Bond movie?

The 24th Bond movie will open in the U.K. on October 23rd, 2015, and in the U.S. on November 6th, 2015.

Loved Skyfall

My only issue, and it is nitpicking, was that I really wanted to see Bond and Silva have it out. He was put forth as a cerebral bad guy who didn't like physical conflict, but was clearly adept at it. Just wanted a good hand to hand scrap

Clive Owen for Blofeld

He needs to be in a Bond movie, make him an ultimate Bond villain

Skyfall was a great movie, but a bit too serious for a Bond film. I don't mind the occasional departure into the darker or more dramatic side of Bond, but I'm glad they want to get back to the "old irony" style, b/c I want to have fun watching a Bond film. I don't think we need Blofeld, but maybe just that type of villain who's pulling strings behind the scenes for a few films before the final confrontation. I'd love to see that happen, and it was hinted at with "Quantum".

Old Irony is fine, but I'm leery of high camp. Even the Pierce Brosnan Bond episodes have way too much camp. I agree that Skyfall was aggressively dark - but as long it's just the one entry that's quite so dark, I'm fine. It was a much more lively and fun movie than Quantum.

I was talking about this on another site that was discussing the M:I franchise - I want to see a spy franchise really get into spycraft. THings have been too Bourne-ified. I like that franchise just fine, but the

I love the Craig Era (yes, I even like Quantum of Solace despite its faults). Skyfall had to be the first time I really got emotional watching a Bond film due to the final scenes where we see Bond cry over M's death, and even the sacrificial lamb with the Eurasian girl in China....(Well, maybe I also felt something when Vesper Lynd gave her life in Casino Royale - and Bond really feeling like he lost of love of his life).

Craig, unfortunately, can't make these forever, so I hope whoever

Craig, unfortunately, can't make these forever, so I hope whoever takes over as 007 gets the same amount of depth/love put into the movies as he does.

P.S. I would love to see Craig's Bond come up against Blofeld. Especially since we never really got closure with the organization 'Quantum.'

P.S.S. I'm liking the sketches of the various eras of Bond.

Skyfall was a fine return to form for the Bond franchise. I'm glad to see they're keeping the same director.

Have there been a lot of Bond films like Skyfall. If so, I haven't seen them.

Skyfall is in my top 5 Bond.

I loved Skyfall. The cinematography was beautiful and it felt like a Bond movie. QoS sucked and is my least liked Bond movie and Casino Royal was just bland.

I like the direction Skyfall went, with a true Bond villain, a leading lady death and an actual Bond plot. It was almost flawless as a Bond movie. They just need a few more gadgets.

Sounds great! How about Bryan Cranston as Blofeld?

Bring it on. Also, please give us one scene of Q in the field with Bond.

Q should have a girlfriend who finishes his sentences. Oh and the bond girl should be a computer hacker who turns out to be M's daughter. She's half Chinese because M had a fling with an agent in the Hong Kong office way back when. And they'll all fly around together on a plane like one big happy family. Everyone will love it! ;)

I once suggested Benedict Cumberbatch as Q's long-lost evil brother.

Love to see Blofeld return

It'd be great to see Bond once again have an arch-nemesis. Despite how good both Casino Royale and Skyfall were, I think the Blofeld trilogy was the high point of the 007 franchise - and a lot had to do with the fact that there was a villain that was up to the tast of out dueling Bond......would love to see that kind of thing return. They would just have to hit a home run casting the part,

Just one the 'return to the old irony' doesn't involve invisible/flying cars, skiing down slopes to The Beach Boys...

I know i am in the minority, but I thought Skyfall was terrible. Yes it was flashy, but as dumb or dumber than any Roger Moore Bond film. The ridiculous subway chase and finale beats anything in dumb department in Moonraker

And the Home Alone ending with the quick and terrible face/off between Bond and Silva. Literally one of the most overrated films.

I agree! The bad guy was basically a cartoon villain, and that didn't match the tone of the rest of the film.
