Rambo 5 a go

09.10.2008

RAMBO For reasons that may have involved an exorbitant amount of booze, we missed the announcement in a Hollywood Reporter article a couple of weeks back discussing the appointment of Alli Shearmur as president of motion picture production at Lionsgate, that RAMBO 5 is pretty much a go. Check it out:

On the development horizon are "Warrior," which Gavin O'Connor co-wrote and will direct; "Conan," a fast-tracked project with multiple scripts in the works; "Severance Package," with Brett Simon writing and directing; "Rambo V," to be written and directed by Sylvester Stallone; "Korean Wedding" from writer Jason Filardi; and "Kane & Lynch," a video game adaptation that will star Bruce Willis.

Say whaaa? Slow down there, cowboy. This thing is locked and loaded? When did this happen? Either way, considering the fourth RAMBO, aptly named RAMBO, was pretty kick ass, it's a safe bet this one will be too. Where's Rambo going in this one, though? Back to Burma? Any thoughts?

Extra Tidbit: Stallone should be bringing back DEMOLITION MAN.

they really shouldnt make another rambo....i thought the last one was epic and it closed the rambo legacy with style and class....i really dont wanna see it ruined.
but then, stallone is the man.....cant argue with that.
however, shouldnt they redo/make another judge dredd???? i LOVED that movie...

Rambo V

I think they left things nicely in Rambo. They don't really need to go back to that character. (Besides, I have read reports that news of this sequel is dubious. I'll believe it when they start shooting.)

A Demolition Man sequel, however, has miles of potential. There are all kinds of things that can happen in a future world that is still learning to accept it's "barbaric" past.

Bring it, Sly.

im down but things need to change

I'm all for a new Rambo if they change what fucked up the fourth one.

Too much violence and shitty acting. The violence can stay, as long as we get a slightly better story, and as long as we get actual actors, not people reading off of a script. I mean, seriously, did any of u give a shit about the innocent people dieing? Like the main couple? I mean just HORRIBLE acting throughout. Sly and the troops did their jobs but if they can actually cast some actors and get a decent script I'm

I am all in for a next installment for Demolition Man, but how would they ever pull that off?

rambo, you not expendable...

based solely on rambo 4, which was a gorefest of the highest order, #5 greenlit is a must-see for me. how he got growth hormones in burma is beyond the point, his face is ragged, his biceps are rock hard, charlie bronson was an old boy when he kicked ass and took names, so bring sly into the jungles of N.Y. or L.A., and utilize his skillset on some bad mofo's in the city for a change.

and i second demolition man pt.2, cool sci fi cars and modern taco bells, only if the pure hotness that is

Jaybro7, I couldn't agree more and it's nice to see someone else who realizes what a talented guy he is and the importance of many of his films and the profound impact they have had in many different ways. Generally, even for actors I really love, I can just take what people say with a grain of salt, but when it comes to Sly, as we both kind of touched on, it ALWAYS seems to be about his age (which makes no sense--again, he's only 62!) or they take a version of Rocky that is so unbelievably

SeymourClearly, first of all Stallone is not a "hack action star," but furthermore I would definitely encourage you to check out more of his films which could give you a better grasp on the man's diverse abilities and talent. I don't see how you could possibly not see the beauty in Rocky (especially the first one), but have you seen FIST, The Lords of Flatbush (very low budget but still a great film), Lock Up, or Copland? He's made many more great ones, but I would definitely recommend checking those out, but regardless, you can't possibly expect to be taken seriously when all you are capable of doing is exaggerating and fabricating things about Sly.

Rambo sucked, Stallone sucked, period!
Over the top violence does not make up for poor acting and a lame script!

Go back to the old folks home Stallone and take every other 80's hack action star with you!!!

Thank God. Balboa 6, well said. My best friend hates stallone, based soley on his movies, He even hates the first Rocky which is by far one of te best movies ever made.

Like you said, Stallone doesnt really talk or sound like Rocky or Rambo, in fact, he is quite the intelligent ma. He speaks clearly and definitely has respect for both characters and the new Rocky and Rambo films prove this, Did you know that the upcoming directors cut of Rambo 4 will soley be to raise money for the Burma people? 100% of the sales will go to Burma. Hes not keeping a cent of the sales. He made this movie for the fans of the character and also for a great cause. He didnt sugar coat anything and it shows.

Real life soldiers have dubbed Rambo 5 as the most realistic war movie ever made. It is. The gore is realistic and the events are realistic. The movie itself is banned in Burma and watching it there will land you hard time in prison. The main baddy (the general) was a real life rebel and he cant even live in Burma any longer.

Stallone did a good thing.

Rambo 5 Im sure will focus on another battle closer to home for Rambo and IM all for it. No matter what it is.

Stallone deserves it.

I guess I'm the only one...

... who thought "Rambo" sucked. At best it was a 70's style grindhouse bloodfest with poor acting, rampant racism and a skeletal plot. At worst it was a shameless excuse to get the lowest common denominator's blood up.

I hate stallone, and I never liked any of his movies. I did gave Rambo 4 a shot on DVD, and Id have to admit it was pretty damn bad ass. It had no plot and the acting sucked, however there was shit blowing up and blood splattering every five seconds. Whatever happened to this genre (extremely violent action films)???...I miss them. I will consider actually going to see this one in theaters.

If Rambo settles down he could become a Punisher-like figure.

YES! WE NEED DEMOLITION MAN 2!

Awesome News! Bring Back Dennehy!

Brian Dennehy as Sheriff Teasle in the little town of Hope would be a great addition to RAMBO 5 or 6. The Rocky saga was always great about keeping things believable by bringing back characters from previous installments. I think it would be great for John Rambo to meet Teasle again and confront the aftermath of First Blood. I'm not saying Teasle should be the bad guy, just that the 2 characters may have some unfinished business. Rambo never did get that meal he wanted. Maybe we discover

hm, I have to think about this one

I loved RAMBO, and thought it was a nice finish to the series.
Unless this is a drama about reconnecting to American life after so many years away... but that's not the Rambo people would be looking for.

SeymourClearly, comments like yours are growing beyond tiresome and are also becoming very cliche'. I'm so sick to death of hearing about his age I could just puke. Oh no! He's 62! Wow, that's just so old isn't it? Besides he doesn't even look close to being 62 and you're missing the entire point, just as I'm sure you did with Rocky Balboa. By saying he slurs his speech, you are making it rather obvious that you have never seen an interview with the man and haven't paid attention to most of his

Demolition Man 2

That would be awesome. But yea, Rambo 5 should be good considering 4 was awesome.

Early word was...

That rather than doing the remake of "Death Wish," Stallone would appropriate the vigilante nature of that film and use it for another "Rambo" film.

I think that could actually be kinda cool. Let's not have him back in a war zone, let's have him settling back into society. Maybe he falls in love only to have some punks kill his lady - maybe it's "Rambo: Straw Dogs," and becomes "Rambo: Death Wish."

Either way, the last one was frikkin' crazy, so I'm up for another. Go Sly!

Oh yeah!!!

Thank God this is happening. The one problem I have had with these additional films in awesome trilogies is that they have a different feel, like I can't really describe this, but its like even though the new one is the same as the others, it is noticably different than the first ones.

The only way they could sort of combat that is to make companion films to go along with the new ones. So Die Hard needs a 5 to marry the feel of 4, same goes for Indy 4 and any others they bring back from

Say What?

WTF? Will Stallone be fighting the bad guys in a wheel chair? The dude is like 100 and slurs everyone of his words. Maybe he can take a couple of shots of Growth Hormone to get himself in
fighting shape? Another Shit Film.

Next we will hear that Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal will be starring in the new Superman movie.

Stallone needs to retire!! Like now!

Oh man this is awesome news!!! I hope this turns out to be true!! Not to doubt any of your sources here at JoBlo, I just generally confirm that a project is being made when said project actually goes into production and some photos/trailers/etc. are released. I mean, you never really know with Hollywood. There's more talk than action usually.

Still, RAMBO did kick some ass and if they're going to make another one count me in!

And Stallone should definitely bring back DEMOLITION MAN!
