Rambo: Final Blood?

Feb. 10, 2012by:

Rambo posterSean Hood (CONAN THE BARBARIAN, THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER) has been involved with a potential "Rambo 5" for some time now, even going so far as to have written a script called RAMBO: LAST STAND. The project as a whole has been on hold for a while as Stallone did all sorts of other things, and when we last checked in six months ago some doubt was expressed as to whether another Rambo would even happen at all. Well, those amongst you excited for just such a movie can rest easy as Hood has gone on the Twitter record saying "Rambo 5 on hold as Sly finishes Expendables 2. He hasn't decided if R5 will be an 'Unforgiven' or a 'passing of the torch.'"

So there you have it - what this means in relation to Stallone signing on to THE TOMB I don't know, but one of the main men involved seems to imply that movement is indeed happening.  I suppose Stallone could do THE TOMB while Rambo's script is re-written to fit whichever of the above-mentioned takes is chosen, then shoot the movie in late fall? Sly is pretty vocal with his fans, so now that Hood has spoken perhaps we'll get some clarification from the main man himself.

Extra Tidbit: So if this does have to happen, which would you rather see: "Unforgiven" or a "passing of the torch?"

I'm confused. Unforgiven? Like Clint Eastwood's film? I would like to see another Rambo, but only if Stallone is Rambo! Dude is still in great shape!

I heard they were going to make another Rambo movie but Stallone won't be in it at all, instead it'll be Jeremy Renner.

I'd like to see what Rambo's home he came back to at the end would be like...maybe have his father and mother dead and gone...and his father's brother (uncle, someone like kris kristofferson early 70's) the keeper of the Rambo estate...and show Rambo assimilating to a world where a father has now passed on, and and uncle he's unfamiliar with...and take the adventure and action to a personal fight from the Rambo Estate to the faces, necks, throats, and guts of a villainous threat infringing on a

John Rambo...

Have suffered enough and I think that the fourth movie is perfect for a final chapter in the series.

Loved Rambo 4. It was no holds bar action and it also tied up the character's story perfectly. I would be open to a new one if done right. And by right I mean no "passing of the torch" and NO PG13!!!!

Part 4 tied the series up perfectly for me, so I have mixed feelings about a potential part 5. On the one hand I'm a big Rambo fan so it's hard not to be interested, but on the other it could really suck and undo the satisfying ending of part 4. If it has to happen I vote for an Unforgiven style movie as it fits the character best, and The Expendables was supposed to be about passing the torch to the younger generation already.

NO NO NO NO NO!

fuck no!

this is absolutely stupid, Rambo (2008) wrapped up the series perfectly and brought the journey full circle, adding another one on would be like making Toy Story 4 after the ending of Toy Story 3... but hell they're probably doing that anyway so I guess we're getting another totally needless Rambo.

This better not happen but if it does it better be a 'passing of the torch' ONLY because then at least it won't be called Rambo and we won't have to consider it part of the series.

As much as I would love another great action flick like Rambo 4, that time is over now. Not because he's too old, but because this is the age of PG13. Expendables 2 is PG13, Bullet To The Head will be PG13, The Tomb will be and any possible Rambo 5 will too.

Hollywood style action is dead.

I donno, i really don't know how i feel about this being made... Aside from this passing the Torch crap. The last movie seemed to come full circle. I'd probably go see it, but i like how this franchise has ended, and then again Sly might surprise me and complete it in another final film.

A passing of the torch? I don't think the world needs 'The Rambo Legacy' starring some second-rate Rambo stand-in.

Just a follow up: the ONLY time Rambo passes a torch is from his left hand to right hand in order to cauterize his own wound with gun powder.

how's this for Rambo 5?

While enjoying his peaceful retirement from his adventure in Thailand/Burma, Rambo goes to a diner to have something to eat (First blood homage) when suddenly AL-queda attacks (led by the now grown up kid from Rambo III) and once again Rambo has to the save day which involves everything from killing a terrorist with a paper-clip to making an RPG using cooking-fat, a toilet-pan and a bear.
Alternatively:

Alternatively:
Rambo is enjoying a peaceful retirement from his adventures from the last movie when suddenly his daughter (from banging the chick from Rambo II - I KNOW, but lets pretend it DID happen) finds him and they hang-out and we learn she's a top-fashion model and has invited him to one of her photo shoots.
While in the city, some gang-bangers/gangstas (led by Justin Bieber) take everyone hostage and its up to Rambo save the day and his sexy daughter by switching from guerilla warfare to urban-warfare together with an unlikely sidekick (Jaden Smith) who goes from a panty-waist comic relief to mindless killing machine in the heat of the battle, and in the end becomes 'worthy' of hanging out with Rambo's daughter (spoiler: He's always had a thing for her).

Well...?

Rambo, homeless, joins the Occupy movement and becomes a fugitive during the cleaning out of the camp. Seeing his picture on the news, the CEO of a Haliburton Blackwater Koch Brothers company seeks him out to revenge against the death of his father or uncle who would be Brian Denehey sheriff from FIRST BLOOD. Using all his political corruption the CEO turns RAMBO propagandizes Rambo into a Homeland Terrorist. Film would be the govt' and the CEO tracking Rambo through DC and surrounding woods.

A passing of the torch, really? REALLY? Has everyone forgotten that in the first film (you remember, the only one that was actually a great film) John Rambo was supposed to die at the end? Some test audiences didn't like it, so the studio fucked it up and re-shot the ending where he lives instead. You can watch the original on the DVD. Personally, I think it fit much better. At any rate, each sequel is just a painful reminder of what could have gone down as an incredible stand-alone movie, but

You say 'Rambo' and people think it's just goofy.

Unforgiven style

And to really come full circle and find his peace is for him to die at the end, with dignity of course.

As much as I love the Rambo movies I'm not all that interested in a Rambo 5. The character came full circle in the last movie and came home. To me that was great closure to his journey.
Mind you, if it does get made I know I'd see it but only if it was an "Unforgiven" style story.

There is no "passing of the torch" in Rambo. Rambo is and always has been a loner. There's no one to pass the torch to.

Get sean hood away from this project! Conan sucked and i can only imagine how the crow movie came out.
Sly needs to come back and fully write and direct this one IF they make it. I would just leave the property alone...

Maybe Rambo snaps after he discovers all his favorite 80s icons are coming together to make a PG-13 action flick that sanitizes the harsh realities of warfare he's endured first-hand.

I think R5 is an awesome Idea!!

R5 should either be a prequel to First Blood and Star Ryan Gosling as a younger Rambo or r5 should be where Stallone takes an apprentice under his wings either a hot chick or Ryan Gosling(because he reminds me of younger Stallone-with better acting skills :P)

Question is:

Who's left to fight?
Seriously...as much as I love Rambo, the man is retired. Let him be. BUT if there's a route to be taken then "Unforgiven" it is.

Characters like Rambo shouldn't be passing the torch to Rambo, JR. or whoever that is. It should be Rambo in a "Unforgiven" style or at least "The Dead Pool".
