Ramis says GB3 in 11

We usually hear plenty of speculation about potential follow-ups to our favorite movies, but rarely does so much of it come from people who will ostensibly be involved. Especially when it comes to GHOSTBUSTERS 3.

The team’s pompadoured spirit-catcher Harold Ramis is (again) talking up the vaporsequel, first telling Heeb that “Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too.

Nothing we haven’t heard numerous times, right? But Ramis continues by proclaiming something comparatively definitive: “GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011.”

On the money, or wishful thinking? While the studio and fans (and Michael Cera) undoubtedly have their collective fingers crossed, at this point the whole thing remains an undeveloped Class 1 ectoplasmic manifestation.
