The reboots of Daredevil and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now have writers

Fox’s reboot of Marvel’s DAREDEVIL already has a director in David Slade (30 DAYS OF NIGHT, TWILIGHT ECLIPSE) and now it has a writer and storyline. (You may recall the studio has to get the project moving along, else they risk the character rights reverting back to Marvel.)

The latest version of the Man without Fear will come from writer Brad Caleb Kane (“Fringe”, BROOKLYN’S FINEST). Kane will model the story after the gritty and acclaimed Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli 1980s comic book arc, in which the criminal Kingpin discovers Daredevil’s true identity (blind lawyer Matt Murdock) and uses the information to slowly dismantle the hero’s life.

Kane is reportedly a big fan of the character… but then, Ben Affleck and Mark Steven Johnson said the same thing.

Meanwhile, the color-coded martial artist reptiles known as the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES are getting a fresh draft for their live-action update, courtesy of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.

The new TMNT is a big project for Paramount and demolitionist Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company, who most recently had IRON MAN writing team Art Marcum and Matt Holloway do a script (and for a handsome price of one million bucks).

The studio initially wanted the latest adventure of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael kicking into theaters in 2012, but that doesn’t seem likely with no script or director in place.
