Red Dragon update
Filming is well underway on RED DRAGON, the prequel to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and Entertainment Weekly gave us our first behind-the-scenes look at the film. One of the most interesting tidbits they divulged was that contrary to previous reports, CGI will NOT be used to make Anthony Hopkins appear 10 years younger than the Hannibal Lecter he portrayed in SILENCE. Instead he's been on a strict diet with other all-natural care (on-set facials) to make his face appear younger. Director Brett Ratner (RUSH HOUR 2) also revealed that the Hannibal we see in this film is more fierce and brutal than in the previous two films. Without his relationship with Clarice Starling, he wasn't such a mild-mannered serial killer apparently. "Hannibal Lecter in this movie is much more still, much more tense, much more angry.... He is Manson. He's a crazy f---.''
Finally, for scenes where Ed Norton's Will Graham is interrogating Dr. Lecter at the asylum, production designers have created an exact replica of the cell that housed the killer in SILENCE. In addition, you'll also see some familiar hospital figures (Dr. Chilton) returning in this film. Sounds like this is gonna be a crazy ride, eh? With a trailer reportedly on the way, now's the perfect time to start getting ready for the film's release in October.
