Reeves leaves Jack

05.02.2002

Once thought to be a remake headed for the fast-track, DreamWorks' BILLY JACK has now jumped ship to production company Intermedia and in doing so, lost star Keanu Reeves and former production company Jersey Films (ERIN BROCKOVICH, PULP FICTION).   It appears that at the final stages of the contract, DreamWorks couldn't agree with the original film's star and director Tom Laughlin and his fee.  Intermedia insists that Keanu could still be lured to return but it appears he followed Jersey Films out the door.

DreamWorks may also lose out on HAWAII FIVE-O as they've reached an impass with the estate of series creator Leonard Freeman.  Reps for the late Freeman's family wanted FIVE-O rights controller George Litto to have final-say in regards to many decisions on the film.  The studio balked and the project has again gone out to bidders.
