Remake first looks: International poster for Carrie and image from The Evil Dead

10.13.2012

With New York Comic Con well underway there are a number of really cool announcements and first looks being revealed.  With that, we have some cool images from two upcoming remakes; CARRIE and THE EVIL DEAD.  Both of these films stem from terrific source material, which has long been reverred as classic and untouchable.  The original CARRIE was directed by Brian DePalma and starred Sissy Spacek as the titular character.  Now, director Kimberly Pierce (BOYS DON'T CRY) is tackling the Stephen King novel, with rising star Chloe Grace Moretz as the blood-soaked telekinetic.

Dark Horizons scored a really sweet, exclusive international poster, which you can view below.

You WILL know her name:

As for THE EVIL DEAD, Sam Raimi's calling card to Hollywood, the remake is being directed by Fede Alvarez and features a gaggle of young stars, including Jane Levy, Jessica Lucas, and Shiloh Fernandez.  Raimi and mega cult star Bruce Campbell are producing and have championed the remake from the start.  Today, we have our first look at a rather goulish looking young lady in the infamous basement from that all-too familiar cabin in the woods.

Take a look...but don't stare:

Pretty cool stuff.  Both teaser trailers for CARRIE and THE EVIL DEAD screened at NYCC to racaous applause.  Apparently the CARRIE remake is looking like a solid adaptation with creepy paranormal vibes, while THE EVIL DEAD is echoing a dark and serious tone with serious gore.  Sounds pretty damn good to me.  The CARRIE trailer will hit the net on Monday, so be sure to check back for that.  No word on when THE EVIL DEAD trailer will hit, but expect it shortly.

CARRIE starts burning her classmates on March 15, 2013 and THE EVIL DEAD heads into the woods on April 12, 2013.

So what if Raimi is involved?

Raimi's recently produced horror movies: The Grudge, The Grudge 2, Boogeyman, The Possession, The Messengers. Just because Raimi is involved doesnt mean its automatically good. As a matter of fact, it could mean that it may be automatically bad, judging from that shit list. But we'll wait and see.

100% agree...and a good trailer dosent mean shit either. the texas chainsaw remakes as well as the thing remake had good trailers too. And aside from a minority of fans, i see people on this very site bitch about those flicks all the time. Hopefully Evil Dead IS good, fans (like myself) would be elated! But lets not jump the gun here folks...

To be honest I am ok with horror remakes as long as they stay true to the original source. All the earlier monster movies like Dracula, Wolfman & Frankenstein have been done to death, so why not do it for the cult horror of the 80s & 90s even. Every one of them like Halloween, Friday the 13th, NOES & TSM were actually not too bad & I cherish every single one of the originals. Carrie looks to be just as good if not better if it sticks to the book & Chloe is a good young actress. As far as The

As far as The Evil Dead well guess I gotta wait for the trailer but if Ash himself approves it then how bad can it really be?

Films are subjective, and by all means, love what you want to love. But I am really surprised at how many people are rooting for the remakes.

I really don't see why people are hating on The Evil Dead remake. If you're gonna hate on it at least have your facts straight. They have said in countless interviews as well as last nights NYCC panel that there is little-to-no CGI in the film, they went old school horror with it. The teaser shown was apparently once of the bloodiest trailers ever...accompanied by frisky trees and distant sounds of a chainsaw. I am excited for this movie and think people may change their minds after seeing the

Buck up deadites....good times are on the way.

I don't understand all the hate

Seriously why is everyone shitting on the 'Evil Dead' remake? Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi were both heavily involved in the remake. They wouldn't have allowed it had the film not been put in good hands. It's not even a shot for shot remake, Ash's character won't even be in the film. It's just going to be a badass horror movie with a ton of gore... what more do you want?

Because those two aren't infallible. They don't make perfect films. The Evil Dead films were made with such a specific, perfect blend that couldn't possibly be replicated. The freshness, the actors, the campiness, the time period -- it all rounded out the films so perfectly; that's why they worked and are remembered so fondly. Just because an actor or filmmaker puts a stamp of approval on something, doesn't mean it'll work. I'm also not saying it absolutely won't either. But in this train wreck

But in this train wreck of remake and sequel onslaughts, we all could have really done with something fresh, not a reboot that only has the original creator's blessing on account of him having something to gain or lose in all of it.

Campbell has been saying really good things about the Evil Dead Remake. Makes me curious to see it, it'll show if he really loves the franchise or really loves the money. I hope he chooses the franchise, he seems to appreciate his fans.

Sooo looking forward to the Evil Dead flick. Going with more of a serious tone is the right choice, I'm liking that pic.

I'm equally not looking forward to either. They're just making me angry.

That evil dead pic looks mighty Exorcist-y....not sure if i like it. And Carrie just feels like its just gonna be another "Teen oriented" horror cash cow. Hopefully, Being that Raimi and Campbell have Evil Dead's back it'll be worth something. But being that pretty much every remake thats been made has been straight garbage (give or take a couple) Im not gonna hold my breath.

I'm swearing off remakes

I don't think I'll miss much. No more remakes.

Oh shit now all I have to watch are sequels.
