Robert Redford and Shia LaBeouf will be The Company You Keep

07.19.2011

Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, political thriller? Is this something you're into? If so then THE COMPANY YOU KEEP will be the film for you.

Redford and LaBeouf will star in the adaptation of Neil Gordon's novel, which was penned by Lem Dobbs (THE LIMEY). In addition to taking a role in the film, Redford has also taken on directing duties. As if he'd have it any other way.

One of the producers for the film, Nicolas Chartier said this on the story and stars, “This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country's ideals against their government. It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today paired with the global icon Robert Redford.”

Here's your synopsis for the film from Deadline: "THE COMPANY YOU KEEP chronicles the story of a former Weather Underground militant wanted by the FBI for 30 years, who must go on the run when his true identity is exposed by a young, ambitious reporter hell-bent on making a name for himself. Redford plays the former radical at the center of this nationwide manhunt and LaBeouf, the determined journalist doggedly chasing him and his story."

I like LaBeouf, but....

Does anybody else notice how he gets all these grown up roles and he's not even 25 and looks like he's about 17? I mean, I enjoy watching him, but he never quite looks old enough for his roles.

Sounds interesting enough. Whether it ends up being good or bad depends on the director and how the story is told (a good cast and good idea don't necessarily mean the movie won't end up flat and boring).

LaBeouf must've made a deal with the devil.

He's not that good. And he gets to work with movie legends and star in huge franchises. The success of Transformer had nothing to do with this kid. Is he Spielberg's secret son or something? I really don't get it.
