Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are already thinking about Sin City 3

02.26.2014

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will finally be released in August, nine years after the first one opened back in 2005. In an interview on SiriusXM's "Ron and Fez Show," director Robert Rodriguez says he and Frank Miller have finished post-production work on the sequel, but he also revealed Miller is interested in making SIN CITY 3.

“Yeah—the second Sin City– I was just here with Frank Miller last night and we were watching it last night. [We] finished the cut, effects are being done, it will come out in August. He [Miller] watched Part 2—he watched it last night with me and then at the end he said, he didn’t have any comments, he was very happy with it. And he said, now about part three…. Started telling me how he’s going to do part three. So he’s already there on part three.”

Frank Miller might already have some ideas for a third movie, however a lot is going to depend on fan reaction to SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, and how well it performs at the box office. And if it has taken them this long to make the sequel. how long will we have to wait for SIN CITY 3?

Robert Rodriguez has been pretty hit-or-miss in recent years in my opinion, but I'm fairly confident SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will be just as fantastic as the first movie. I'm game for SIN CITY 3, and if it does happen, hopefully we won't have to wait another nine years.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR starring Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Julia Garner, Rosario Dawson, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Christopher Meloni, and Lady Gaga will be released on August 22nd, 2014.

I'm still impressed by how well Sin City captured the look and feel of Miller's stories in a cinematic manner and I do love the casting of Eva Green as Ava Lord, if anyone can play a femme fatale, it's her. I hope Sin City: A Dame to Kill For does well enough to warrant a third instalment.

Frank Miller's new material is terrible

Don't get me wrong, teh man was my hero at one point but everything post 300 (the comic book) has been god awful, considering they used up most of the big stories they had left from the source material, if he's written new stuff I'm not excited. I suppose they can us "To Hell and Back" and "Family Values" if they're not in the second one already (it hasn't been confirmed yet).

Affliction

I'm all about a sequel, but RR's Affliction shirt has to go... another director turned DB.

Trailer !!!!!!!! When ???????????????? For God's Sake !!!!!!!!!!

My gosh ! I have the impression that the second installment is in production for years ! and the only thing we have is 3 poor pictures ! No tearser trailer, no trailer and the movie is set to be relased in August ????? If I was paroniac, I would say the studio does not belevie in the movie, and maybe, they will do a poor marketing effort to advertise the movie and so, the boxoffice could be disapointing ! I hope I'm wrong

My theory, which is based on nothing but a hunch, is that they're waiting for the 300 sequel, the other Frank Miller adaptation starring Eva Green, to be released first. It will be easier to promote if 300 is a hit.

JimmyArrow..... What a thought? That movie comes out very soon. Would it be believable that a Hollywood movie like this could actually stay secret this long? What if there is a trailer before 300? Wishing....

Dude, one thing at a time...

You've got Sin City 2, Fire and Ice, all of the TV shows you're lining up for your El Rey Network (not to mention all the episodes you're directing, writing, scoring, editing, etc.)...might want to slow things down a little, eh?

Let's take it one step at a time

We're finally getting a sequel after almost ten years of waiting. Can we please just breath and be happy with that first before we even start talking about a third movie?! We don't even know how A Dame to Kill For will turn out.

Love the first one, but nervous about this one. Not only has it been nearly a decade (which is hard enough for me to believe...), but Frank Miller has grown into a TERRIBLE writer, and with there being original stories in this, not just adaptations... yeah, I'm not so sure about it.

This sequel sounds amazing, and the first is an excellent movie and modern classic. I want this to be round 2 of the experience that I had the first time so badly. The talent is there, thats for sure. But a part of me feels that with super high expectations, a shaky "its happening, its not happening" history, and recent lackluster Rodriguez films, this could be a setup for a big dissapointment. And just dont talk about 3 till we have SOMETHING for 2. RR and FM, just dont mention 3 until

They were waiting for Josh Bromide to have another hit movie so publicity could ride his coat tails.

Autocorrect seems to have struck - but "Josh Bromide" is a pretty cool name, I'll have to save that for a sci-fi story or something.

Sin City still holds up very well and I'm hoping the sequel brings just as much excitement and awesomeness that the first one had.
