Robert Zemeckis wants to teach you How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack

After THE POLAR EXPRESS and A CHRISTMAS CAROL it’s tough to remember that Robert Zemeckis has a real love of dark humor, but one needs only look at DEATH BECOMES HER. Either way it’s still amusing to think that the famous filmmaker is going to be spending his time on a killer garden gnome movie.

Seriously, this is really happening. Zemeckis is producing and will possibly be directing an adaptation of Chuck Sambuchino’s “How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack: Defend Yourself When the Lawn Warriors Strike (And They Will)”, which is apparently the latest silly survival guide ripoff to hit in the wake of Max Brooks’ “The Zombie Survival Guide”.

Zemeckis has just hired Chad Damiani and JP Lavin (MAX STEEL, GERONIMO) to write the script for Sony Pictures Animation. They’re aiming for a hard PG-13 with this animated film, so expect those gnomes to get bloody.

You have to hope they use that same animations style from THE POLAR EXPRESS so those garden gnomes have creepy dead eyes.

More as we hear it…
