Robin Williams is soon to be The Angriest Man In Brooklyn

If you believe as I believe that Robin Williams is a genius who needs dramatic or cutting comedic material in order to truly show it (ALADDIN and HOOK excepted), then I think you'll agree with me that THE ANGRIEST MAN IN BROOKLYN could be a great opportunity to once again show that genius after shit like OLD DOGS and RV.  Joined by a bevy of talent that includes Mila Kunis, Peter Dinklage, James Earl Jones, Melissa Leo, THE ANGRIEST MAN IN BROOKLYN will see Williams in "the story of a stand-in doctor who mistakenly tells an obnoxious patient he has 90 minutes to live. The medic tries desperately to locate the man after her comments send him on a contrite tour of the city to right all the wrongs in his life."

Phil Alden Robinson (FIELD OF DREAMS, SNEAKERS) will direct from a screenplay by Daniel Taplitz (RED DOG), saying "when I read Dan Taplitz’s amazing screenplay I laughed and cried until I realised that I wanted so much to see this film that I was actually eager to spend a few years of my life getting it made."

You'll note that Williams seems to agree with my earlier comment, if his own statement about the project is anything to go by.  “I read the script and said wow! I love the fact that it’s so fun and honest. The idea of being that nasty and funny is a gift.”  Yes, yes it is Robin.  And you're one of the very best at pulling that off, so I for one am very excited to see what you do once filming begins this September..

Extra Tidbit: As truly excited as I am for Tom Hardy's performance as Bane, I'm rather sad that Nolan didn't go with the idea of Williams playing Dr. Hugo Strange.

So is this based on a true story of every person who lives in Brooklyn because they are always angry?

So, is this film's going to be a Real Time comedy (you know, 90 MIN to live)? I love real time movies, but those are all drama suspense films. This can be the 1st as a comedy....Plus a hopeful comeback of Williams, YAY!

I like high-concept comedies, and Robin Williams and the supporting cast sound like they can definitely pull this one off. The patient going around righting wrongs has a bit of an "It's a Wonderful Life" feel about it, which in the hands of Robin Williams could be hilarious and dramatic.

Should be good. I think 90 minutes is funny, thats a pretty precisde disorder. Plus if that was the case why chase him around the city, once a couple of hours passes he'll realize the doc f**ked up

I've always been a fan of the man. I just recently watched his 2011 stand-up "Weapons of Self-Destruction" and he still has the ability to light up a room. But unfortunately his work tends to alternate between fantastic and horrible. With the talent involved and the story and the general reaction to the script, this definitely sounds like a return to the kind of stuff that Williams really excels at.

Movie sounds perfect for Williams. Hopefully this turns out to be a gem of a movie for him, because it would be great to have Williams back in the spotlight.

World's Greatest Dad is a GREAT Williams film. More people should check it out.

Sounds great, but is Williams intended to play the doctor or the patient? The wording in the article leaves it ambiguous.

Williams is playing the patient, not the doctor. The article explained that clearly.
