Thandie Newton Things really just haven't been the same for Guy Ritchie since the abomination that was SWEPT AWAY.

He tried returning to his London crime thriller roots with REVOLVER and though it wasn't exactly well received, most of us gave him a pass for at least trying to repress (not suppress, mind you, but repress) the memory of SWEPT AWAY with his patented brand of thriller.

Which means, of course, that his upcoming return to the seedy underbelly of the British criminal underworld, ROCK'N'ROLLA, will either allow us to remember the Guy Ritchie of old or confirm for us that he really will never be the same.

In any case, Ritchie himself seems pretty damn pleased with the flick as one of the film's stars, Thandie Newton, recently told MTV Movies that he's keen to complete a trilogy of ROCK'N'ROLLA films. "RocknRolla’ is one of three films and Guy’s keen to get going on that straight away. [The second and third films in the series] are going to be excellent. I can’t wait," says the spicy chocolate Brit.

The film is of course an interconnected web of stories in wihich "London's criminal underworld takes notice of a Russian mobster's shady land deal, a scam that puts millions of dollars up for grabs." Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Ludacris, Jeremy Piven and Gemma Arterton co-star. Read the rest of what Newton had to say HERE.

It's set for release October 31st. Because clearly Halloween is the absolute best time to release a crime thriller.

Oh well
I gotta hand it to Ritchie he's got a pretty cool cast of actors who, given the right setting, could make a sweet little movie. Is the London underworld the right setting? Time will tell, won't it?

What little I know tells me this is more along the lines of his first two, with eccentric names and all. And a lot more Americans, be that good or bad.

There are very few crime trilogies out there (or even sequels to crime movies), and I'd be interested in how he plans to make an official trilogy outta whatever this is. So until I know more I'm interested.

Guy Ritchie Is A HACK!
This guy needs to stay away from a camera and just settle being Madaonna's husband. His best film by far is Lock Stock, and that movie is not very good. Stop rehashing the same shit and retire!
