Rounders sequel?

As poker has exploded into a ubiquitous phenomenon over the past decade, it’s no surprise that ROUNDERS has also grown into more than just a cult fave. But is the story of Matt Damon’s gambler and his troublesome chum Ed Norton over?

A follow-up film has been intermittently rumored over the years, but even Damon and the writers are now discussing the possibility of a sequel. “We’ve been concentrating on ROUNDERS 2 lately,” co-writer David Levien told Pokerlistings.com. “Ideas are percolating. It’s great to know that all of the original players want to come back and do another one.” (“Everybody would probably come back,” Damon himself speculates. “The actors all had a really good time working together.“)

Levien and writing partner Brian Koppelman have been fairly entrenched in the gambling world, between OCEAN’S 13 and a new Leonardo DiCaprio project about offshore online casinos. “Vegas, the poker world, the casino environment, and the characters that gravitate around them are endlessly fascinating to us,” Levien says.
