Rourkeless Sin City?

12.08.2008

Mickey Rourke recently spoke to ComingSoon and revealed that while SIN CITY 2 is on the horizon, he might net actually be that interested in it:

"No, I'm not interested in that right now. That's not a reality right now. It's pissing in the wind... There's different factions going different directions there. I don't know. That's three hours of make up and I'm claustrophobic, so I'm going to have to work something out."

This is news, but its tough to say there should be too much stock put into his quote. Rourke is probably about to be nominated for an Oscar, and he's busy on 13 so it's understandable he wouldn't be thinking about making another SIN CITY right now. If by the time this rolls around he's back on board I wouldn't be too surprised. Although the guy is clearly crazy, so if the next time you see him its wearing Frank Miller's head for a hat, don't be surprised either.
Extra Tidbit: Surprisingly, Rourke's movie THE WRESTLER didn't feature on Ebert's end of year Top 20.

Regarding complaints about Ebert's list... Ah, come off it; like anybody here actually saw "every movie on his list". Yeah, right.

Rourke was great...

I mean, some what, 80% of the movie was digital. Could they not work something out where all his makeup is added digitally? Id prefer a slightly faker Marv to a new person playing him.

I'm just happy Sin City 2 is still in the works, after being put off for so long. I'm sure the wrestler will be great, but haven't seen mickey in a better role than marv.

At Pork Chop

From my understanding the timeline of the stories of Sin City do not take place in the order of their release.

I think this is because Miller did not intend to have a bunch of stories at first and i think Marvs story, now known as The Hard Goodbye, was originally titled Sin City.
---
I think they would need him back, Marvs part isn't too huge that it wold kill it if they couldn't but it wouldn't feel right.

Honestly I could care less if hes in it or not. Dont get me wrong I liked his story and the character but I think they could do other things if they didnt have him in it. There are other Sin City stories but Ive never read them but as I understand it from fans he did Marv justice so I do say no Mickey no Marv dont recast the character.

Pork Chop

Part of the second installation coincides with the Marv story, and introduces a very different Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen) than we saw in the movie. And Dwight actually enlists Marv's help at one time, pre-Goldie.

And while I am disappointed in this, it HAS been three years, and a LOT of big names and egos were involved with the first, and would need to be reassembled to pull off another.

Ok, I never read Sin City so this may sound really stupid but Marv was executed in the last one? Are the other parts of the story a backstory?

good

Call it off. Sin City was excellent.. but is this sequel EVER coming out? I mean.. really.. we haven't heard any real concrete casting or script penning since.. well.. I don't even know.

With Willis gone and Rourke gone I'm sure some other people will seem less interested.

Meh!

If he's not in "Sin City 2", I doubt I'd be interested in seeing it as he has one of the biggest parts. They'll pay him big bucks to do it, guaranteed.

i don't trust Ebert anymore.. over the last year he's given so many movies four stars, many of which were nowhere near deserving, IMO, and he's hilariously trashed some really good films.

As for Sin City 2, i think I may be one of the few who doesn't give a damn if it ever comes around.

Ebert's Top Ten

The Wrestler wasn't on Roger Ebert's top ten of 2008 because he has yet to see it. That's why he doesn't have a review for it on his official website, I doubt very much that his list is complete.

being a bigtime fuckin movie star now, can you blame him for not bein in a movie that was supose to come out 2 years ago.
anyway, i'm sure Rodriguez can pull in Tarantino for the role.

i really hope he changes his mind, Marv is a big part of "A Dame to Kill For" and i'd hate to see someone else fill his shoes.
