Rumor: Batman v Superman split in 2, Part One hits theaters in 2015?

01.09.2015

Remember when BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE was going to open around the same time as AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON? it was preparing to be the biggest comic book summer of all time. Then, DC moved the film to 2016 to go up against CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Rumors have abounded that the delay was so Zack Snyder could film JUSTICE LEAGUE at the same time as BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. But, now a rumor has appeared that may change things.

An image popped up on Imgur (now stored over at Ain't It Cool News) that purports to be from the upcoming teaser trailer rumored to be attached to JUPITER ASCENDING. The image claims that BATMAN V SUPERMAN will be split into two films, the first hitting theaters right before Halloween on October 23, 2015.

Check it out.

While this could easily be a fake, WB could suprise everyone and debut BATMAN V SUPERMAN: ENTER THE KNIGHT in just nine months. Putting it five months before the release of DAWN OF JUSTICE would also allow fan anticipation to build and give WB/DC a little edge of Marvel come time for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

It has never sat right with me that BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE would have to push a full year to accommodate the film. It has already completed production so an entire year for post-production and special effects seems a bit much unless there was more to it. I still think JUSTICE LEAGUE filming seems more realistic, but this would be a really cool surprise, especially in this age of Internet spoilers.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will debut March 25, 2016. BATMAN V SUPERMAN: ENTER THE KNIGHT may be here a bit sooner.

I'm up for this move by WB/DC if it's true. That being said, I'm still not giving WB/DC too much credit with having this planned out from the beginning. I assume that based on a lot of fans backlash about how over populated and convoluted the BvS: DOJ movie was going to be, they started realizing it when they got the movie into the editing room and realized: "Shit, we have way more going on here than we thought we did". So instead of making one big shitty movie, they decided at the last

So I'm up for this, if nothing more than the fact we get Batman and Superman on screen together sooner. But I still think DC is spinning it's wheels with their movie adaptations.

The more the merrier

I'm not totally loving DC's strategy for it's movie devision, but I'll take what I can get. I loved the Dark Knight trilogy, and am still on the fence with Man of Steel, but I'm looking forward to whatever DC brings with Bats v Supes. Two movies-sure, whatever.

Ehhh

My only problem is the title for part one, "Enter the Knight", that is horrible. It should be Part 1: "Fight Club", lol

I doubt this is true

But if it is instead of giving us "Batman vs. Superman Parts 1 & 2" followed by "Justice League Parts 1 & 2" why don't they just give us "Batman vs. Superman" and then a Justice League trilogy? Seems like a much more natural use of four films.

Marvel splitting Avengers: Infinity War into two parts: "OMG Marvel is awesome! We are getting an extra Avengers movie! They can do no wrong!"

DC splitting Batman Vs. Superman into two parts: "What the hell is wrong with them!?! See, this is why Marvel is superior and DC is a joke!"

People were bitching that it would be too much in one film. Now they split it and everyone thinks its stupid. I don't care what they do, I just wanna see Batman and Superman on screen in the same damn movie.

I think the difference here is that DC has already confirmed that Justice League is already getting split into two parts, and Batman vs. Superman was supposed to provide the setup for that. If this rumor is true that means that they're now splitting the setup film into two part as well. So this would be akin to Marvel splitting Captain America: Civil War into two parts which then lead into Infinity War part one and two.

Also part of the original backlash was that instead of being a Man of

Was there really that much outpouring of support for Marvel when they split the Avengers? because I enjoy Marvel's movies but think that decision is stupid. And so is this one., I don't give a shit who's on screen.

Sounds like more DC confusion about their movies. If they wanted it two movies that should've been the plan from the beginning. This sudden change can either be genius or a production making hurried changes which usually do not end well. This movie will basically determine if DC properties have a future on the big screen, I hope they really thought this thru.

I hope that this is because the story is so epic that two movies make sense and not just a way to hedge their bets by saving production costs and potentially doubling their ticket sales.

Makes sense, given how long filming went on for and fan concerns of cameo-level screen time for all the major characters.

How long is the movie????

Unless the movie is over 4hrs long then it makes no sense, except of course to squeeze out more money from folks --- Most likely it's a 3hrs movie, and you will end up playing a $12 movie ticket for a movie that will last 90min or less! I say just buy a big projection screen and a projector, which are very affordable on ebay, and you save in the long run!

Dude. Y do u think it took so long to film this thing? Why do you think there's a cavalcade of characters in this? This isn't one film split in 2.. It's 2 separate films. The 1st one will be a batman sentric film. It could even end up being a 30 min short for iMax only.

I just can not get into this movie at all. And people keep telling me "but it's Batman and Superman on screen for the first time." No, it's Affleck and the guy from Man Of Steel in some movie... I just can not get into any this. And I don't even hate Affleck. Or Man Of Steel. It was a fun little film that came and went away... moving on...

it seems like they're trying to kill my interest in this movie. I was open to Affleck but then they cast Eissenberg as Luthor, throw a bunch of heroes into it and now they're splitting it. That trick is getting old Hollywood!

Hope this is true. Since there is no standalone Batman film on the DC slate, and he is still their most popular character, maybe this is a new way of getting him a good bit of screen time in this new DC Universe. Plus we get the first movie sooner than we thought!

Plot thought: Maybe Batman and Supes cause so much damage in Enter the Knight that WW, Aquaman, Cyborg etc. decide to come stick their noses in Part 2?

Now I'll be disappointed if this was false and the wait continues to March 2016. Sure Avengers is out in May but they don't have batman and superman together on screen for the first time ever.

I'm actually more worried about Avengers: Infinity War Part I. That's a completely different situation. Here they need to introduce Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, etc. For Avengers: Infinity War everything will be set up and they should be able to hit the ground running. I am worried that Avengers: Infinity War Part I will suffer from the burden of setting up Avengers: Infinity War Part II much like Iron Man 2 was basically setting up Avengers Assemble.

MODERATELY SURPRISING

Warner Brothers has wallowed in the wake of Walt Disney's strategic Marvel Universe for quite some time. Even though Marvel movies have dominated and will have some dominance over the comic genre, the WB needs to get things moving in a big way with a big movie (or two) that will focus attention to them. This certainly would be a good start. Hopefully DC will have it's deserved day. And in 20 years when everyone is completely out of ideas we can begin the crossover movies. Yeehaw.

I was one of the many disappointed that the film would be delayed a year so I'd certainly be up for this and it would be most excellent to see any DC movie, let alone this one, in 2015. However, it would seem like a last-minute knee-jerk burst of panic if that really were the case. If it is fake, then kudos for the authentic shaky-cam in that photo!

You do have a point there, but what I'm trying to get at is, if they knew they had a 4-5 hour movie from the beginning, why not announce as a two-parter then? If they came out at the beginning of development to say the follow-up to Man Of Steel introducing Batman would be told over two films, instead of shuffling the release dates and then making this surprise move, it would seem like they had their act together.

Okay

For the ones complaining about packing too much into one film. Here's your answer. I seriously can't understand why people are already bashing this film(unless you're a hardcore Marvel-boy). It's Batman and Superman together in a live action film. Take it for what it is and take a deep fucking breath. It's gonna be okay!

It would help to give Batfleck some gravitas before he faces the big man, but when people can get the information on release dates the studios secure even before the movie been announced this seems like too big of surprise to have been kept secret for so long.

Considering all the casting news that keeps popping up for this movie, yeah they better split it in two. Sounds like too many characters to cram into just one movie.

Eh, Warner's had luck with releasing Gravity in October and Gone Girl performed well too. Granted it's not as all encompassing as a summer release, but they can make money. March is a questionable month too.

If this is true, the first film I'd imagine would be all batman. Taking place during man of steel, and the end of the movie batman heading to metropolis to confront superman.

How can anyone who loves comic book movies be unhappy about this? I was really disappointed by Man of Steel and Green Lantern sucked big time...but I will happily go and see multiple installments of these movies per year for the rest of my life because that's just how I am. I always did wonder how on earth they intended to fit so much potential epicness in to one movie...so I hope this is true. I also still hope Marvel do this with Age of Ultron - that trailer with all it's plot points makes

This news is utterly EPIC

too many people are comparing this to hunger games where they split an already written book into TWO. This isn't a book. This is an independent story that we know nothing about. This has clearly been in the works for a while by WB. And for me this is GREAT NEWS!! We get the movie early and we get a 2nd one. Stop being whiny bitches!

A 'Man of Steel' sequel so confident in its depiction of Superman that it relies on having Batman in the title twice - once at the very beginning and once at the very end. Just in case you forgot Batman was in it.

This is great news! Several other sites are claiming that Lionsgate moved 'The Last Witch Hunter' off of the Oct 23rd date. I have a feeling that they (Lionsgate) did that because the caught wind that Warner Brothers is going to have part 1 of Batman V Superman on that date.

Josh Whedon did. He said he wasn't happy when The Empire Strikes Back ended with a cliffhanger. In retrospect, it seems he decided to not do Infinity War because he didn't want to have it split into two parts. Maybe he can do Inhumans.

@Con_Man, I definitely complained when Avengers Infinity War was split in 2. I don't see why it matters if it is independently written or not. It's still developed as a complete story and then separated.

This brings to mind Hunger Games, Twilight, Harry Potter, and The Hobbit, as an unnecessary cash-grab. By all means, let Batman v. Superman have sequels. But don't make it some sort of epic two-parter. That's just unnecessary. It bugs me the arrogance that DC has shown (OK, maybe it's just Zack Snyder). Man of Steel had issues, and if you look at Marvel, after Iron Man it took them a few movies to hit their stride. I'm sure DC will become a titan at the box office if it doesn't manage to do

If true, it'd be an excellent and innovative marketing strategy since Marvel has already planted it's feet deep into the coming years. An official word, is all that's needed to start rejoicing!

The url seems to be from a fan site if that makes any difference. Does that mean it's fake or did they originally break the story and add their url. I'm assuming the former.

Anyone else had a sneaking suspicion this was going on because of the EXTREMELY long production time of the film(s)?

Not sure how I feel about 'Enter the Knight.' I'm sure Batman's a little wary of any entering...

I hate when films are split into two because the waiting sucks and we've already been waiting so long for this film already. But at least the wait is only five months as oppose to a whole year.

I admit I tend to repeat myself (quite often unfortunately), but I just try to stay optimistic about certain things.

Well cudos for being so upbeat dude, keep it that way. I just hope we get a decent story my one major fear for this especially given their similarities with directors is that this becomes the matrix 2&3 which were horrible films. the best 2 parter I've seen in a long time was Kill Bill

Alex your history of events is wrong. It was originally supposed to be out this July but they delayed it and moved it to a day in May 2016 that Marvel already claimed. Marvel held fast on the date and announced their movie would be Cap 3. Warner Bros. said they weren't budging until the got cold feet just as GotG was about to be released with good word of mouth so they baulked and moved to March 2016.

Would be cool if it was true, since they have been film for a long long time but it isn`t true, well that picture is not.You just have too look at the website it has on that picture: [link] .Plus ENTER THE KNIGHT sounds more like a porn title.

Damn.

That would be pretty damn good marketing by WB if it were true and I would definitely be up for it.

Once again, you can make anything up these days. Take this will a grain of salt.
Plus, it makes no sense to hide this for so long. Not to mention the October release date makes no sense.

If this is true, then 'Batman ♥ Superman' can go and fuck itself. Twice.

'The Last Witch Hunter' (quietly) moved off of its October 23rd release date earlier today. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now I think I know exactly why they did it. Lionsgate obviously know something that the rest of us don't know. Don't be shocked if 'Batman V Superman: Enter The Knight' is really happening. Also, I am really, really excited about this news!

That's a very interesting and fair point. I hope this is true. All the rumors about added characters and storylines made me nervous about a bloated film, plus, 3/2016 is far far away.
