Rumor: Character details for Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

J.J. Abrams are crew are doing a bang-up job of keeping FORCE AWAKENS secrets well hidden, although every now and again some information slips through the cracks. Now, there's actually only a few rumored character details in this article, as the rest has been said by actors of the film, but if you're looking to go into the theater on December 18th blind, turn away now! None of this is earth-shattering, but better safe than sorry!

So first up is the character of Rey. Abrams has stated before that there's a reason we haven't been given a last name for Daisy Ridley's character, and that's because it's a pseudonym. MakingStarWars.net has reported that Rey was dropped off on Jakku by her parents and the reason she hasn't left is because she's afraid they may never find her. Also, that she lives inside of an AT-AT altered into her own, personal home. Cozy!

The other character without a last name would be Finn. Cinelinx is reporting that his actual "name" may be FN-2187, as First Order troops are assigned a number. If that number sounds familiar, it's because both of the talking toys of Finn and Captain Phasma have said it. Cinelinx goes on to say that it's possible Finn is a protege of sorts of Phasma, and that First Order troops also have some training with lightsabers and shields. Curious…

Now we move on to confirmed, but less meaty, information. First is that of Domhnall Gleeson's General Hux. In an interview with Games Radar, Gleeson said of the character that Abrams would describe him as "merciless." With all the secrecy surrounding Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma, it seems like a truly evil character is in (First) order for the film.

Those of you paying careful attention to the FORCE AWAKENS video that premiered at SDCC may have spotted both Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb. The actor who original portrayed Ackbar will be reprising his character in FORCE AWAKENS, and he confided to The Australian that there are more familiar faces set to appear that fans don't know about. There's only a few months left before all will be revealed, but I'm sure I speak for most STAR WARS fans when I say that I haven't anticipated a film like this since the first Star Wars prequel!

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will open on December 18, 2015.
